What's Happening?

My new 16 month calendar was delivered. I love it! It's so fun with cute stickers and stuff. :daisy:

 

Something tells me that my daughter and the hairdresser got into the wine....tick-tock...

 

Blue Point Juniper vs Tourlosa Juniper (Hollywood)

Blue Point...



Hollywood...





Same tree, Chinese Juniper, but with a slightly different genetic twist. For the backyard I originally wanted Hollywood but when I got those Blue Point at half price I couldn't resist, it just called for a slightly different landscape design. Two out of the nine that I got are looking more like Hollywood, or at least partially. The other 7 are upright. They were all labeled "Blue Point" and more than a label screwup it's probably slightly different genetics that wasn't spotted at the nursery.

Anyways, the 7 upright ones are going in two elongated beds, 3 in one and 4 in the other. The two oddballs are going closer to the herb/wildflower garden and will get pruned to a more open/loose feel to look more "Hollywood". I finally started planting these today but had to move two other trees first...



Believe me... This is the last house I'm landscaping. Holyshytthisistoomuchwork.

 

Hanging with my mom at the bar she used to work at. She is having a ball talking to all her old coworkers and customers.

 

The second "odd" Juniper is in the ground... Between rain storms. Still have the 7 upright ones to plant.

Dinner is being disrupted with Tornado Warnings. So much for BBQ...

 

Tornadoes in August?

 

Lunch was a Hoot! (I went to Hooter's).

It really was, though; we laughed a lot.

 

Guy that owns the car shop in my town is here. Bartender announces if someone lost money tell me how much to claim it. Car shop owner says. I'm missing 400 dollars. She hands him the money and he leaves. My mom says exactly what I was thinking. I would have given her something as a reward for her honesty. You don't do something like that for a reward but it is common decency to give one.

 

Some people can't spare the cash for the reward.

I'm guessing you think this guy could have.

 

Yeah Tornado season starts in January and ends in December.... Apparently it's always been like that.

 

That crossed my mind and I can't say for sure how well or bad he is doing.sometimes he has lots of customers and sometimes he has none.
I do know that he could spare 10 bucks. And even 20. The guy is not in danger of bankruptcy...that I am pretty sure of.

 

He might think about it later and take her a big tip.

 

That crossed my mind too. If it was 4 $100 bills and he was on his way out then I might have done that. I hope so.

 

Sirens went off two times last evening but they did not stay on long either time (maybe 5-6 minutes each).

 

I'm too far away from anywhere to hear any sirens...

 

I know that had to sound eerie!

They lied about today's temperatures.

 

We had some excitement in the hood.

A high speed police chase that ended in here.

I took Emma and walked down to see what I could find out. The deputy that came for back up to the police assured me everything was okay. I have to do that when my neighborhood watch people start wanting to know.

I think it might have been a chase off the highway. People don't realize that they will become trapped in this neighborhood because we have no thru streets. I've seen it happen before. The police caught a car in front of our house once. They jumped out with guns drawn.

 

If the tornado touched down it was about 6 miles from here at a state park. News showed several trees twisted and down. The "officials" will be there today to decide if it did touch down.


In the mean time an ironman event started at that park this morning for a one mile swim followed by a 70? mile bike ride and something else. I don't follow sports but needed to know if I could pick up Dad to go to breakfast this morning. They closed roads that normally get me to Dad's. We had to use a detour but got to meet Ty and get back without a hitch.

 

I don't seem able to drag my ass to the grocery store.
