Thanks, Pen....and I hope your head is ok.

Moxy is not vomiting any of the fluids out that are being pumped into her all day, and she is comfortable......but still critical..They said it takes 24-48 hours to get levels out of critical stage, which is why she has to be monitored all night, too...Assholes cannot take her next door to the place open all night for us when they close. We have to leave here in a few mins and drive 45 minutes to get her and bring her next door...and then go back before 7 am to get her, when they close to bring her back to our vet, which does not open until 8...so what do we do with her in the car for an hour tomorrow with a bag being pumped into her?
This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.....i want to just drop them....and pronto...but no other choice right now.

OMG! Moonie, I am so glad the vet is getting and/or keeping her stable. However...that about not being able to take her next door and then y'all having to drive a distance to take her next door and THEN to have to go through that again tomorrow, while having to wait for the "day" vet to open. good grief...

After all is said and done...somebody needs to explain some things to them!!! Even down here in Podunk, USA I've never heard of a place that would put their patients (and owners) through all of that. Around there, they must be one of the only places available or else I don't see people tolerating that kind of ill considered and thought out treatment.

Poor Moxy. :-( It does sound like she is doing better and there is a diagnosis, so that is good too. After all of this is said and done, you might want to look into finding another vet that has "normal" treatment hours and has enough sense to think of both the animals and the owners. Again...I've never heard of such bs. There just HAS to be a better place than that.

    [IMG] to Moxy and you.

    What's Happening?

"high pressure system, sometimes called a "heat dome" ..... "

Yeah, it's just nasty out there and will be through the weekend. I'll probably see some triple digit temps around here.

Yeah, thanks, Lynn...but I can kind of understand it now, as the two places are not connected, although right next to each other. ...and the emergency place we brought her , too, is an emergency hospital for animals from 6pm until 7 am only...for when one has a pet emergency and all the other vets around are closed. I am glad we did go. I was more confident with them....they seemed more efficient and professional, and I immediately had confidence in the doctor. he knows his shit.... I got to see Moxy with my own eyes to see how she was doing. To me, she did not seem as critical, anymore....I did clean the gunk out of her eyes, as she could barely open her eyes with all that built up gunk...You'd think the people at my vets could have done that....but they are too busy with so many animal patients all day long...one animal does not get the quality care it should for the money they charge......
This emergency place was not grand central station, either.....and it looked cleaner, was quieter and I have faith that Moxy is in the best hands tonight.... :)

My usual vet will be back tomorrow to receive Moxy tomorrow morning at my place. That makes me feel better, too...I have been with her since 2001.

After listening to two alarmists for 2 days...Stan and the sub vet...no wonder I was jumping out of myself earlier...it took a real , calm, confident professional tonight to calm me down and level me back to earth.....Funny, how different people affect a person.

My other 3 pugs have been confused all night and day.....
Last night they were pushed up againstt the wall in two cat beds sleeping, as moxy was vomiting more water than she was taking in on two big blankets and 3 pillows that is usually more than enough space for everyone including Sullivan, the golden.....who sort of hid himslef underneath the bed all night last night.

Galileo got scared and upset and tried to get in the bed with me at one point last night.
he has been the most sensitive about things today. He keeps looking to read my face about his mother., so I have been reassuring him.
I had to wash all the blankets today and pillow cases...so everyone would have dry, clean things to sleep on tonight.....

Ah, I miss Moxy. I just put them all in the room, and Gali is laying on Moxy's favorite pillow, where she usually sleeps and looks so sad and lost...:(

He always slept near his dad, Champy, too, during the last year of Champ's life.....while the other pugs pretty much kept their distance. Interesting that they all have different personalities....Einstein is same ole Alvin all day....winnie looked in my eyes and asked. i told her back things were ok...and she has been fine all day, sort of....but Gali has always been the most sensitive pug here....biggest, too.

The last three weeks have been very busy, and with almost little to no wind, I've been sharing what is usually my own space, with my husband. This isn't a bad thing, but I am used to having the shoebox to myself. Even during summer months when he is off work, he is usually kite surfing in Squamish. Anyways, it is looking like there will be some good wind today, so I am going to have the apartment to myself for most of the day, for the first time in WEEKS. I am thinking I might skip my spin class and spend the day at home in the nude. I'll putter, read my book, relax, enjoy space and time to myself.

    Thank you so much.

When Moxy was picked up this morning before 7 am......they said all of her levels were normalized. they had to charge us for another catheter that was in the vein of her leg to drip the fluids in her all day had been put in wrong by the other vet....SERIOUSLY?!...so another $81.00 just for that and to be put in correctly. The doctor said when asked if she was still critical..."NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"...emphatically.

My vet who pulled up along side of our car as we were waiting to bring Moxy back there was told that, and she said..."Oh, they always say that..."

    SERIOUSLY?!!!!!

    Something definitely STINKS in Denmark.

Anyway, my vet still has her, and when called again about an hour ago...said to call back at 5....her electrolites are off again.

I am befuddled.....I don't know what is happening again...when told she could probably come home today early this morning.

After picking her up from the overnight emercency hospital...she looked better, she had more energy...and even took a crap on a leash with us, and pulled with such strength to do so...so tell me...what should I think? it is obvious.

and thinking about it , the doctor asked me last night..."Does she seem better to you now than when you first brought her to your vet this morning?"
i thought it an odd question at the time but....I said..."Yes..."....but I don't think they think much of my vet.....but of course ,cannot say anything like that....That is how I am putting it together now.

I am sorry...I just do not think this emergency hospital needs to play such games as replacing catheters to make another $81.00.....nope....I don't think so......They already had us for almost $500.00 for the night....and you could just tell they cared about Moxy after being with her all night.

My gut is telling me...find another vet now....I need to talk Stan into it...He is more trusting of them still.

or maybe just still loyal, as that is how he is...being with them for so long...I am not trusting of them anymore at all.

I think they killed 2 of my cats with their incompetence.

but it does seem like she is better after spending time there though, right? I might would ask them what vet they would recommend....knowing it surely won't be the ones that can't put in a catheter right nor keep her electrolytes stable.

With you feeling like you do about that vet and your passed on cats...I'd for sure be looking for somewhere else. :) UNLESS suddenly Moxy is stable and well, etc...then I'd probably still be searching for another vet for later.

Bless you and your fur babies.

Been really hectic lately. Had some car trouble and of course my regular mechanic was on holidays. Poor guy only takes a couple of weeks a year so it is well deserved. I ended up having it towed twice and they could still not figure out what was wrong. He came back from holidays and put it in his shop and let it run for a couple of hours and it finally stopped running. Fuel pump relay....fixed. :)

Leela is getting really good with Celeste now. If I could only train the bird to now stop bugging the dogs. ;)

I bought paint to do the garage door and front door and upstairs windows but it is far too humid to paint as it will not cure properly. I need two days of no humidity and so far it does not seem like it is happening soon.

Moxy Moo Moo wants me to thank anyone who wished her to come home alive.....She sends love and hugs and kisses to you.

She has been home almost an hour now. yesterday, her levels kept fluctutating, so they kept her overnight at my vets.....

I learned everything I need to know about insulin shots two times per day ......what to feed her and when...all that the substitute vet knew...I now know...and I asked questions and she was like DUH...ok, I know enough already from my holisitc vet and will pick her brains some more anyway...so thank you for your time...and go back to school...and learn your shit.....never again with that one.

I hear my holistic vet now in my ear...grain free...no white stuff...sugar, flour, pasta, etc....I wanted to know about fruit in small amounts..
I think I know what to do, successfully....now...and will hold off on the fruit until I see my holisitc vet.

Here is a photo of Moxy taken a few mins ago....the red on her leg is from the catheter....Moxy is sleeping now.

About a month ago Moxy was 30 pounds...Today she is 23 pounds....and hopefully, we will successfully get her weight to 18-20 pounds....gradually.
