What's Happening?

I don't know how people exist in the cold and snow. Honestly, I don't.

I'm at the point now with these clouds that I want to gouge my eye out with a fork.

 

I think it's just acclimatisation, if it were sudden drops in temps it would be hard but we get the full 4 seasons so by the time it gets to freezing your body has already prepared for it.

I lived in Canberra in Australia and that city also had a real 4 season feel unlike much else of Australia where it just stays hot or warm, Canberra got to -7 at nights occasionally. Mostly it would be maybe -2 - -4 overnight I remember lots of frost every morning but a solid frost also means clear sky which means it will be a nice day in the morning. During the day it was like 12-14*c which is quite nice. But it was a very windy place too and only being a few hours from the snow fields the wind was quite harsh. It never really showed there though, once a year a dusting that would not settle.

Here we get 4 seasons. The sun, snow, wind and hot. I find once it is not windy it can be -10 and you don't even really feel it. Sure my face hands and feet are cold but if you have the right clothes witch you sort of need to it's pretty "fresh" but the frozen lands are truly peaceful to me. I feel so alive in winter and I know it sounds silly but I get a lot of satisfaction looking out over a frozen city, the mountains and hills all covered in frost or snow. I know it's geography and not a personal achievement, but I feel proud of my mountains.

 

Doesn't Canberra have some epic surfing?

 

No it is an inland city, 300+ meters high which is why it got so cold. About 3hrs drive to the beach down an epic rainforest mountain road.
