Have you checked into having her "committed"?

I'm confused about my antidepressant therapy.

I've been on some type of antidepressant drug for about 25 years. I did come off for a short time but went back on because of worsening depression.

If you've been on them, you know that the effectiveness tends to wear off and you have to try a new one.

I wish I didn't need them but I don't know how to help myself without them

I'm at the point where I have to go in to the doctor and discuss a change.

Has anyone successfully come off them?

this what I was saying to the mailman and her as she was screaming, I said we have enough to have you committed on video and it went in one ear out the other.. she just wants attention, and thats getting old. very much just static interference now. so she has to broadcast louder and louder. Her aunt was like that before she died. Screaming for WATER GIVE ME WATER. like nails on a chalkboard. I know its crazy enough to have one your own living viper snakes.. when you want to chop its head off every single time you hear it..banging doors, slamming plates, busting blinds, cracking tiles slamming chairs on floors..

Yes... but I quit Cymbalta at max dose cold turkey. Not anything I would recommend but I had no other choice.

i find now cbd is great anti depressant. however as stated above, dealing with madness is not an easy take with any kind of drug. fascinating about shooting a bag of dope because that may end my sickness too.. the environment plays part,., I change much my environment and get out of here and send satan away for a while. she will go if the cops come.. she dont have to but she will usually.. got rid of it yesterday .. It come back later in the evening and then was up til 230, yelling fuck fuck fuck at the tv set..

I haven't been on them to come off them

So I apologizeif this is not the advice you want.

But I wonder if an osteopathic doctor could help you come off them? If you're not familiar, they're fully licensed physicians so they're not quacks or uncertified holistic doctors or anything, they're legit. But they focus on the mind and body as an integrated whole rather than treating each individual illness as something existing in a bubble..I don't know if that makes sense, I hope it does. Might be worth looking into

    Lots of good discussion, thanks.

You should check into having her legally committed before something really bad happens.

I quit Effexor myself, and I tapered off with no problem. It's not really the quitting that bothers me. It's the wanting to know if there is any successful remedy other than pharmaceuticals. I don't want to be worse without them.

That's an excellent suggestion but I can't afford lots of doctor trips right now. I'm self-pay using my husband's disability check for us both to survive on.

I was discussing this with hubby and telling him that he is absolutely no support or encouragement to me because he is depressed himself (along with whatever other psychiatric problems he has. I didn't say this part to him.)

I just want some success stories.

I want people to tell me how much better they feel without the antidepressants.

If I can't find those, I'll just ask the doc to change me to another one because this one has hit the brick wall.

Most depression is situational... Change the situation and depression magically goes away.

    True somewhat.

I've had happier times for sure.

There's no changing my situation right now.

That sucks about being self pay, been there many times.

I don't have chronic depression amd i've never taken anti depressents so I really feel like my perspective isnt what you're looking for and I'm sorry if I'm giving unwanted advice, I know you're looking to hear from people in a similiar situation as you

But I do want to say - I was in a deep depression that lasted 2 or 3 years, probably should have taken medication but I was scared to talk to the doctor and also stubborn. But I overcame it without drugs, it can be done. Hardest thing I've ever done and I still live in fear of sinking back to that point, but I did it

I know that's not the same situation but I thought it might at least give you a little bit of hope that you can come off your meds successfully and beat it naturally.

I made feeling normal, not even happy just normal and balanced, my entire focus for a while. Meditation, yoga, exercise, lots of time in nature, distance from toxic people (I know thats hard in your situation), creative outlets, clean eating, reading and intellectual stimulation. I basically avoided anything that made me feel out of balance and only did things that made me feel at peace and accomplished. It was fucking hard at first because I didn't feel like doing anything lol but it got easier

Anyways take that with a grain of salt but felt I should share. I know you can do it if you decide its what you want. And if you decide to stay on meds that's okay too, just give yourself lots of love either way

    Thanks.

I like your recommendations for living!

Edit- I'll just add that I've been depressed since I was a child so it really is a chronic thing.

the most recent TIME magazine has a feature article about depression and new treatments using Ketamine.
Supposedly it works wonders with one treatment being instant relief lasting a relatively long time.
It is in it's infancy concerning clinical trials and all, but you could prolly acquire some through other channels..;)

Nice area not far from Stonington, Mystic Seaport, or you could spend the day watching the next generation of Ballistic Missile Submarine (or boomer)
heading out to sea from the Naval Base at New London CT :)
