I heard that you could scare away Jehovah's Witnesses by telling them you're Buddhist.

It ought to work on these people.

They love the big team trophies and they each get a smaller one too.

    I'm back from church...OMG y'all...

They did all the opening christian rock songs and then they put a video on the big screen of a hearse pulling up to the church and unloading a casket...

The keyboardist is playing amazing grace and I'm watching the big screen as this casket is being rolled through the hallway and into the sanctuary.

I'm already mad as hell that they are using the big one, "Death", to drag people to their cross. :/

Then I realize the video coverage is live and that this casket is really being rolled down to the front of the church...

The casket is placed right in the front and the pallbearers walk away from it...

The stupid preacher jumped out of the damn thing.

It all just went downhill from there with him preaching about sinning and dying and going to hell.

That finally ended and their little stage performance with the singers and band started up again...

Seeing my babies dunked took all of one minute for all four of them.

We waited around for them to come out in their church dresses with dripping wet hair, took some pics, and left.

We're on a break at home now, waiting for a graveside service for one of our long time neighbors. I never really even met the man but his wife is tons of fun. I use to go to yard sales with her about 20 years ago. We lost touch but both remained in the neighborhood. Since we've started the neighborhood watch program on facebook, we've become friends again. She's reached out to me several times since her husband took ill.

So anyway, we will go up to the cemetery and support her and her daughter, who also lives in the neighborhood and grew up with my kids.

i been to 2 christenings. one was my youngest cousin on my mothers side (before internet i never talked to any on my fathers side) my cousins brother at the time was about 2-3 years old. the church was packed and it was a big one. there was a bunch of babies getting christened. so of course there was a bunch of babies there...and what do babies do? cry. every time a baby started crying my cousin would say (loud enough so people outside the church could hear) "baby crying"!!!! this happened about 15 times during the course of the service.

nothing special about the second one i was at. it was a friends son and my friend insisted the lamb was great. i told him i didn't like it. he said it was probably made wrong. (the first time i had lamb was at another Armenian event so i knew it was likely made the same) sure enough it tasted the same and it was shit.

I'm back from the funeral and after food.

    I'm very glad I went.

It was a military send off. He was in the army for 45 years.

Two short storms rolled through this evening... second one dumped a moderate amount of rain. I don't know if there's going to be any more.

The other three pepper plants went in the ground this morning, before it got too hot outside. The places I put them were areas with crap soil covered with wood ash and then mulched with wood chips. Not the best for growing things. (That's why I did this, to keep weeds at a minimum) So I dug out the hole and used an organic, (or so they say) garden soil to surround the root mass. Over time this whole garden will be good soil but that's gonna take several years. This is the herb/flower garden just off the back patio...

    I guess it's an herb/flower/pepper garden now.

Yesterday I got another 10 bags of mulch, they had a buck a bag sale on a Scotts brand "forest brown" mulch I'll use out front. Most of that is mulched already so I'll just be doing an over coating with this stuff. I also got another fern, two Zinnias a couple of blue Fescue and two Liriope... These are all for different spaces around the house. I am a sucker for "cosmetically challenged" plants @ 50% off...

and.... The two Liriope just went into the newly recovered garden space by the driveway.... That's where I did the newspaper/woodchip/mulch deal. There was one in there originally, crowded out and covered by weeds. I thought it looked lonely so I added two more.

I think it's getting to hot for planting right now... I better find something else to do. Like go fall down on the bed.

I love those cosmetically challenged plants.

For a while, first hubby and I had a spot we called our plant hospital area.

My dad got rid of a bunch of Euonymus bushes and we brought them home. We put them in the plant hospital and then moved them out to other areas later.

My little Coleus, rescued from a broken stem in the grocery store parking lot, was rooted and is now potted. She's happy and growing like crazy.

That animal that Crusher was chasing one day, which I thought was a wood chuck...i don't know what it is now...prairie dog? I have seen it every day running acrosss the land bridge back and forth. I think it lives on my property....but prairie dogs live in colonies, and this is just one lone soul I see every day, so it does not exactly fit the pattern of what prairie dogs do, either. I am stumped as to what it is...it is cute, though...and is always minding its own business.

My grandson was here today! :D

He is playing in a world series at the park close to us. Tomorrow is a pin ceremony with the other teams and his first game is Wed. afternoon.

We will go watch some of those games, swapping out with my son when he gets home around 2:30 in the afternoons. The gate fee to take the girls in is too much, I think. I'll have to get my daughter to ask about the age/charges when she goes on Wednesday.

I thawed out meatloaf for dinner and made some Puerto Rican rice to go with it. I was really hungry so I ate some rice. I'll wait and eat the meatloaf in a little while.

I guess I'll run up to the corner store and pick up some stuff while the kitten sleeps. I'll come back and have coffee or a nap.

Yep, it's that time of day.

Putting off work around the house again. I'm surprised I am not skinny with how much I procrastinate. Well I don't procrastinate with beer so that's probably it.

I just have to add in here that my mother LOVES Liriope. goodnightalive!!! She has gone out of her way through the years to get it growing in different areas, and they are quite alive and well. When people (around here) refer to it as "monkey grass", it pisses her off to no end. [IMG] She has long rows of it. She would put her caladiums in front of the liriope, but this year there are no caladiums except for those that are in the pots of widow's tears. The widow's tears were taken downstairs, in the pots. I was going (started to) take the pots of caladiums downstairs (without taking them out of the pot of soil) but Mama started raising absolute hell, so I said whatevs...let 'em stay where you want. :eyeroll: So, they didn't come back, which really does make me a little sad...but I'll get over it. lol

I have 4 pepper plants. Each plant has 1 pepper which continues to grow fine. However the plants are NOT bushing out, nor has there been a dang single flower. good grief. So, unless something changes I'll be getting 1 pepper from each plant. They are totally in the sun and everything. The tomatoes are doing ok...and that's it...just ok.
