I found a dead, baby something just off my front porch this morning. I guess it was stolen from a nest. It didn't have fur. From the head shape, I'm thinking it was a baby rabbit. It was under 3 inches long.

Back from Lowe's, they had something I sorely needed for 40% off, today only. Also got an indoor fern and another blue Hosta, slightly different species... They marked these Hosta down more than 50% because they are already flowering. WTF?

I got the watering done before I went, will have to spot water new trees throughout the day.. On the way to the city I spotted a pile of stuff out by the street in front of this guys house, I noticed garden hoses because I need some. On the way back I stopped and he said "Help Yourself"... So I did. Two hoses, a bird bath, small glass top plant stand/patio table, two cordless weed-whackers (he said they worked). I dig free stuff.

Hot and windy out today... I'll probably be working inside until evening. IF it cools off this evening.

It's supposed to rain tomorrow... I hope so, I've got some cracks in the soil over 1/2 inch wide.

June last year was the wettest on record, it rained all but three days or someshyt... This year you couldn't fill a squirtgun with what we've had.

All perfectly normal, mind you... Nuthin' wrong with the climate.

My grandson is coming to spend the night with me! He will be here until his other grandmother gets off work tomorrow; then he is going out of town with her.

Piper finally gets to go back home to her new apartment with her Mommy. She's been here over a month.

My doctor visit went fine. My blood pressure was just a tiny bit high but not enough to do anything about it. I'm going back to Ibuprofen and stopping the Meloxicam because it doesn't seem to work as well. It seems I'll live another 6 month at least. The bill was $159. The office visit charge was raised from $75 to $111, then blood work was added.

I got a bit of touchup mowing done and finished right before the storm hit...

Rest In Peace little jewel of the sky... You traveled so far just to get here and yet you won't be going back.

I went out to plant that Purple Fountain Grass after the storm passed this afternoon. As soon as I stepped out the door I saw a dead female Hummingbird on the patio. She now rests at the roots of that grass. May it grow well and always remind me of her beauty. :sadsmilie:

That's sad about the hummingbird but beautiful about her burial.

We only got that one storm yesterday.

The grandson is gone with his other grandpa. They will be traveling to LA.

I'm feeding the kitten. She's got some kind of gunk in her eyes.

Spent today doing the grass, weeding and replacing the screen on the patio door.

Been busy the last week as we now have a new puppy who is 12 weeks old and weighs about 3 lbs. Her name is Leela. :)

Not looking forward to how high the grass is. I still have an hour and a half and I already don't feel like even carrying my clothes into the house.

Had another storm roll through fast... Not sure how much rain I had total.

Some areas are looking greener already. There's still cracks in the yard though...

It's raining a lot here today.

Had a productive morning. I finally bought myself some winter clothes after going clothes shopping 4 times and not buying anything. Since last winter I have lost 13kg so all my clothes were looking baggy and unflattering.

Windy out there today. Was cloudy all morning but the sun came out this afternoon. No rain... sort of. I actually felt two drops and it decided to go elsewhere. [IMG]

Took care of a "problem garden" today... Just off the circular drive, at the beginning of the brick sidewalk leading to the house was an old original garden that has just been a mass of weeds with a few desirable plants mixed in since I've owned this place... Probably long before I owned this place. I spread out newspaper, very thickly. Put down about 2-3 inches of wood chips over that and then three bags of mulch on top of the wood chips. (it needs more) I put this right over the weeds/grass/crap but allowing the few desirable plants and ornamental rocks to show through. (several Lily of the Valley and a variegated Liriope is all I could find)

This process is going to kill off the weeds/grass/crap and decompose them.... Next year there should be good workable soil down under the mulch and no weeds. It's pretty much a shade garden.

The rest of this garden has several larger bushes, a clump of Iris (that needs to move) an ornamental grass, (that needs to move) and the Magnolia tree.... I didn't do this section today, just the "flower" area. The bushes all need major pruning besides moving the Iris and Ornamental Grass... It's been just a huge mess for a long time.

Also went out and found some more poison ivy to spray... That shit is everywhere.

My grandpa always handled weeds that way and it worked. I have not thought about that in years. :)

Leela found out today she has a bark in that little body and it scared her. She let out a woof and took off backwards and looked around as if trying to figure out who did it. It was funny to see her react. She has heard Lace bark but tends to run back to the dog bed when it happens as if it is home safe. :)

I ordered a gift for my sisters birthday in August. I decided on a gazing ball and stand for her front flower bed. I have one and she really likes it so I am hoping she will enjoy hers. :)
