At least they should not be able to destroy much.

I had friend whose doberman chewed rocks and it totally chipped all her teeth. Silly dog.

Got to leave home from work early today. Sounds great on the surface, but now I don't know what to do with this near-full day off.....

I used to all the time. Now I just stick to the ones that I enjoy or about subjects I truly believe in for the best. Haven't had apprehension since....of course some old threads can be brought back at any time but that's rare.

Hippes would think NZ is a good place. Mostly because hippies will just look at the beauty of the country and not realize that once they're there, they'd probably get told to fuck right from the indigenous islanders. Lol. They don't want no dirty white folks and there barefeet touching the sacred ground. A lot of NZ island populance are against whites for the colonization of NZ. Not even the white NZ folks live in peace all the time and a lot would be bashed and beat up for calling themselves a kiwi.

You got an island there full of angst and angry people fueled by alcohol, drugs and violence.

I have friends that move from Australia across the ocean to work there to help rebuild from earthquakes and they say it's a beautiful country but the people and he culture and the constant harrassments from locals upon others is just too much.
They came to help rebuild because the Kiwis won't do it themselves so they've got people from all over the world trying to rebuild and they're always getting into fights when they're out and getting the old lecture about what they didn't do and what never happened to them 300 years ago.

I've only ever flown over it. I don't need to walk to Mordor either. :D Since I bet New Zealnd was named after Zealand and I've already been there I believe the fjords of Scandinavia would be just as beautiful and so, I have no real desire to go to NZ and be accused of taking the culture of islanders in their pubs. :D

Sounds like you are making an argument for why the Americans were right for the genocide of the Indians.
(To be fair. Most of those deaths were just natural diseases before the white man gave away his first small pox blanket)

No, I've always sided with the Indians over the Americans. :)

All I was saying about NZ is it looks good on the outside, not so good on the inside. I don't know how that's genocidal lol.

A lot of American Indians journeyed up north to Canada, almost 3/4 of the population they rode off with Sitting Bull after they'd defeated Custer and made an embarrassment of the American army. Crazy Horse remained with his warriors.

See, I was taught that the Americans massacred near all the Indians but that isn't accurate. I was telling you about the West documentaries we are watching, well when something strikes interest in me I keep persuing.

I've found out that a lot of what I was led to believe about the Indians is in fact not so true. I was taught that they were just completely annihilated into almost non existence. I was never taught that a huge population migrated up north to get away etc. it was just all cowboys vs Indians is what i grew up knowing.

Like the Buffalo too, I'd just though the Americans killed the Buffalo for their hides but it was so much more than that. It was to stop the Indians way of life. They followed the Buffalo, you take away the Buffalo you take away their spirit, pride and culture. Wasn't all this mass murder and genocide, killing the Buffalo was a long stretched out plan, but it worked I guess.

As for NZ, I always side with the islanders too, like most nations I'll side with the indigenous population. I always loved watching the kiwis play in the Rugby World Cup. I've seen them live playing Australia in the tri nations I few times too. Just a magnificent atmosphere and they put all their spirit into it. That's what I like about culture, the spirit of the people. It's why I fight so hard to maintain a cultural identity too. Not this "one race" stuff.

I'm a strong believer in embracing cultural differences.

World cultures are very intriguing to me.

I'm the president, on paper only atm, of a fairly large group named "Pride In Diversity". I really do wish that group would do some gatherings or outreach or something but the guys that formed it travel alot and the members aren't centrally located anywhere. It was a nice thought when it started in Atlanta but now I think it's just a tax write off for the founders.

Its not just the many deaths (of which many were indirect and by diseases indeed) that are so wrong and abominable. It's primarily the deliberate destruction of their way of life and taking most of their space.. which usually takes some killing. But the real genocide was on their lifestyle and it was wilfully done.

See I see like, advanced technology comes directly from warfare. IMO. I know it's been often stated and I believe it's true. Medicine and healing too, come from wars.

The natives really have anyone to war with like that though, they didn't need Steel plate armor or big broadswords so I don't think the need for metallurgy was really justified. They just did everything the way that made sense to them I think destroying the rocks and mining would have destroyed their land and their land meant an awful lot to them.

If it wasn't for those mountains laced with gold on their limited land they were granted, maybe the natives would still be a bigger culture of people today. They didn't care about gold. It was just all fluff to them. Design a better headdress, that's how you stamped who you were, not by how much gold you wore.

Did American Indians even have gold? Did they mine it or was it just nothing to them? I might have to research for myself. I just can't see them doing that on a mass scale knowing that mining their land would hurt their land.

It's like the African tribes that were never advanced and still aren't advanced. Their enemies aren't coming at them with guns and swords, it's still all stick and stone so they've never needed to advance their ways, so they just haven't. Lol.

It's actually quite a peaceful thing to think about, the fact that cultures are still out there that have nothing to do with our way of life yet they're at peace with themselves and we aren't at peace with ourselves at all.
