I read just now that my beloved folk singer Johnny Rebel passed away late last year. I feel so sad lol in fact it's the only musical related death that I've felt sad about, I felt nothing about Lemmy in comparison. I hadn't heard a Johnny Rebel song for years and years and tonight we decided I wonder what that dude even looked like? Did we even wanna know what that dude looked like? We'd only ever apparently seen him under that KKK sheet. Well I Wikipedia and LOL I didn't see that coming but at the same time it makes sense too.

It's funny, until I saw what he looked like I had no real interest in anything about him other than his stupid corny racist folk music which I thought too comical to take serious. I first learned of him when my daddy was reading a book about the history of country music. He said there was this guy, Johnny Rebel, they apparently banned his music and he wanted to see if I could find it.

Well finding it was easy and I remember we got the cd with the corny KKK cover and confederate flag and it was my daddy, my youngest sister and I and we put the volume on low so nobody could hear and we all laughed and laughed at these stupid songs. They were so corny and so simple, taking the most simple rhymes and using blatant stereotypes. It probably sounds terrible that we did that, but it was for history, we were listening to long forgotten part or country music in America... is what we all decided.

Well, wasn't I to be the most popular girl at school. I copied the original cd from my dad, it was literally copied and copied and copied and copied. All my asshole friends had it. It was copied and given to the "Rebels" local bikie chapter/group of our city. I was pointed out by one of my dads friends to them that "she, her, she's the one that found Johnny Rebel. The guys loved it! Thought it was fantastic!

When I left home I remember running into Scottie, the one who'd basically the culprit for making JRebel take off on an international scale with his unrelenting copy and burning of this cd he said to me "Jocelyn I'll never forget you. You're the one who showed me Johnny Rebel!" and he wrote on a sticker I had on a small box I was I was taking with me. It was a Wraith - Shangri La sticker from an ICP concert I'd gone too. Honestly I was livid he wrote on my sticker, it said "HOO-ROO JOHNNY REBEL!"

That sticker is still on the box of which I look at a few times of a year. I can't help but smile now, I wonder what ever happened to Scott. He was like what the Australians would call True Blue just a country bloke from the bush living in a city he couldn't adjust to. I bet he still wears that akubra hat of his, probably the same one and still never washed.

Back to start: Now I'm so interested in learning about Johnny Rebel simply because now I have a face to view him in, he wasn't just some guy behind a white sheet anymore, he was a person. I read that, he was asked to record the songs for a BiG Reb record label.

He was asked to write them. Does that mean, he didn't actually agree with what he was saying, that he was the only one game enough to actually sing about what he sang about. I'd head a interview with him too where he said that he in fact had black friends, quite a lot of black friends. I always thought the songs were akin to "taking the piss" out of the stereotype the interview seemed to favor this too.

I still cannot believe that what he looks like. :D

"Johnny rebel 1938-2016 was a pro- segregationist singer who was know for displaying democratic views but came out on the Howard stern show declaring not to be a racist Johnny rebels albums were attacked for being called fascist and racist but mr.rebels albums are just a representative of non-popular speech which is protected under free-speech rebel died on the 3rd of September"

One of my triplet granddaughters has to have a root canal on Friday.

Bless her heart. Her little top lip is swollen pitifully but luckily she isn't in alot of pain.

This is the tooth that she broke off when she tripped and hit her mouth on a batting helmet. It's one of her front teeth.

If I'm going to commit a crime in america I'm definitely leaking important government documents to the public. You get more time in jail for feeding the homeless and capturing rain water.

#1, you won't have the technology to get back if you go into a time that had no time machine. No GPS satellites to direct you to a specific location either. You'll just be where you are, in whatever date period you choose, and you'll die in that era.
