What's Happening?

We've got a softball tournament with the oldest granddaughter on Saturday. I guess I'll spend tomorrow making sure everything is set to go.

I'm really getting sick of reading about and discussing politics. I'm about to have to cut myself off completely from it. The ballpark is always such a nice distraction from things like that.

 

Trying hard to get a graphic designer job at a coffee company right now. It's tough work.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed to acquire a cabin out in the forest. The land lord seems to like me, but she's reviewing one more potential renter. I'm hoping that potential renter either hates the place, or the land lord finds that person to be very insufferable and atrocious. This cabin is my dream house!

My bedroom has gotten chillier, finally, and it makes the air bed get flatter. I didn't realize I needed to pump it up until I got up this morning in a lot of pain from sleeping on the too soft mattress.

This has been a short week with the kids being out of school on Monday and Tuesday. I forgot to put the trash on the curb last night. I woke up to the sound of the garbage truck on the street. Needless to say, I wasn't quick enough to get the trash out. I was slow enough to see them turn the corner, drive up the street, and leave the neighborhood without my trash.

I could've sworn that I heard the guys in the truck laughing and that I saw the one hanging on the back of the truck doing this to me:

 

Been there done that many times. I forgot this week too. So they got off easy this time but will have to work double next time.

 

Happened to me today! And mine were at the end of the path, just on the wrong side!!!!!!!

 

We can put up to 5 extra bags out with our cart but where are you going to keep 5 extra bags of trash without animals breaking into it?

Anyway, we will manage.


I've got a shit-ton of things to do tonight in order to get ready for tournament tomorrow. All I got done during the day was to make my list, lol but that's something! It's totally going to be useful from now on. I've got it on an index card in my "control journal".

I just emptied a tote that had excess Halloween stuff in it. I'll probably try to keep most of that stuff in the tote so I'm not rounding it up from all over the house every Friday.

Guess it's too late in the year to put out a freeze warning on the Weather Underground site... I mean it's only supposed to go down into the mid 20's.

 

The smell of smoke is pretty bad here. Table Rock is on fire, which is maybe 40 minutes north of here.

I actually came in this thread to ask if you were getting smoke there, i looked at the map and it looks like wildfires span all the way from the mountains north of ATL to just north of where I am, then across the western NC mountains all the way into Virginia.

We need rain badly.

Hubby is talking about how he and my son need to hook up long garden hoses on the back of the two houses here in case of fire in the woods - there are 600 acres that attach and come up to our backyards.

 

WOW we had our first freeze about a month ago.

I usually just look out the windows if it's too cold to be outside... But that's just me.

 

There were a bunch of Robins out back today... Juvenile Robins. Where the fuck did they come from?

 

Another hard freeze tonight... At least the birdbath has been emptied.
