What's Happening?

It's awful to think about.

My second home was Daytona Beaches. My parents had a condo there until Mom sold the last one around 2003 or something.

I could not believe the news at 5 o'clock this afternoon saying that the bridges over to the beach would be closing at 6 p.m. That just blows my mind to think about everyone having to get out and back on the other side of the river. I've never seen them just have to abandon the whole area.

 

Wow. This is very nostalgic for me. I had to turn the volume off so I could hear the sounds of my own family in my memories.

Laying down in my sisters basement. Trying to decide if I should hang out for another day or head home.

 

We've decided to skip the Pride Parade this year. Hubby wants to get his little garden bed planted.

The triplets have a softball tournament tomorrow. Luckily, this one is only about 5 miles from home.

I think my daughter & her girlfriend are going to go out with my nephew & his girlfriend tonight while they are up from Savannah for the storm. My brother lives close to my daughter. My brother's house is where my nephew is staying. My daughter wants me to come up and go out with them but I think it's a little "too much sugar for a dime". It's an hour trip across town in the dark, money will be spent, and then it'd be another hour back across town for me. They're all around 25-30 yrs old and they all drink alot. Even if my brother and his wife go with them I still think I'll stay home and get ready to watch softball tomorrow.

 

I have family in the Hilton Head area, some evacuated to the Charlotte area and some are staying.and my sister and her husband have decided to stick it out in the Charleston area, but they're a few miles inland so hopefully will be okay. They just moved to the coast a couple years ago so this is their first hurricane. My sister is terrified and her husband is excited.

I'm worried for my family who decided to stay and am watching this closely. I'm glad to hear your family decided to evacuate and hope their property fares okay.

Also vacationed on the Isle of Palms outside Charleston for years with my family and am still in touch with a couple of locals who live on the island through FB, and they're staying on the island. They're fucking crazy. Hugo devastated the IOP, one of my earliest memories is going down there a month after Hugo hit and seeing the damage. Hope it doesnt hit as hard this time.

The triplets' team came in runner up in yesterday's benefit tournament. It was for Children's Healthcare Of Atlanta.

Got done mowing and trimming the yard around the house... There's still some areas in the back yard that I don't have to mow. It's not dead grass, it's vaguely greenish, just that the drought was so hard it's given up for the year.


I also mowed the side yard to the west of the house and pissed off that second Yellowjacket nest... Several times.



Speaking of... The first Yellowjacket nest next to the garage is DOA... The dish detergent and Ortho wiped it out.

 

Steelers won woo-hoo. Rain stopped when I woke up. Woo-hoo. Seems like Mathew passed by...maybe hockey will resume tomorrow. Nieces announcement was a bust like I predicted but a good time was had by all.

I just finished making a pineapple jam.
It will be a filler for some cookies I am baking.

 

Stained the attic vent at the end of the house, it really needed it...A wasp keep flying around my head...

 

In two weeks my Patriots will face-off against your Steelers for supremacy in the AFC, Can’t wait

The grands are out of school today so there is major play happening outside. The triplets and my grandson really miss each other alot! He is even out of school tomorrow but the girls go back. I'll be taking him to a dentist appointment tomorrow.
