Here's my thinking on the prednisolone. I think you need it when you have the wheezing. If you can't tolerate it, you at least need the inhaler.

I use to like the prednisolone because I'd move furniture and stuff in the house when I was on it, lol

Maybe, I don't tolerate it as well anymore.

I'm sure I got into trouble with it last night because I tried to play catch up with all the days' doses starting late in the day. I needed quick relief for the tightness in my chest.

If you think you can wait and start it in the morning like it's written, that probably wouldn't hit you so hard.

The first day is going to be the worst anyway.

It's all down hill from there.

I took my first dose a couple hours ago as soon as i picked it up from the pharmacy. I've felt so rundown the past week i'm not sure if i would notice any adverse reactions anyways..but so far so good

My doctor prescribed me the syrup and only 5mls a day. She said it was a child's dose, guess she thought i couldnt hang lol.

    My pred is 4mg.

I took 3 when I got it around dinnertime.

Then I took 3 more at bedtime.

It's been more spread out today but I'm still kinda concerned that they say 2 pills at bedtime today.

I just know hubby was damn close taking me to the hospital several times before I went to the doctor so I'm just sucking it up and taking the medicines. They won't last forever.

I just checked mine and it is 15mg/5 ml

I hope you are on the mend soon! It does seem like the benefits outweigh the adverse reactions at any ra te. Bronchitis is pretty awful

I just read up on side effects of prednisone. The side affects sound as bad as the bronchitis itself.

There doesn't seem to be much a person can do to counteract the effects.

Also, the doc said I had a sinus infection as well. To tell you the truth, the bronchitis hit so hard I barely noticed any sinus symptoms.

Did your all's doctors say anything about taking stuff to keep the coughs productive? Like mucinex?

The 2 different times I was prescribed/took the prednisone I assure you I had edibles and there was NO helping those effects! OH - and my doctor started me out at 40 mgs one time and 50 mgs the other time...and of course one weans down from there. When I described the AWFUL way I felt she didn't hesitate to say "ok...I'm not prescribing you that any more." She never discussed taking less than that, just told me to made sure and use the inhaler (another type of steroid) as needed.

After my times, I know that "roid rages" are real...because that prednisone I was taking was nothing compared to the effects that body-building steroids have. I can't imagine maintaining my sanity.

    Yes, lol

My doctor noted that I had been taking the Mucinex and it was doing no good at all.

These two bedtime ones will be taken when I am already sleepy and turning off the light. Maybe I can fall asleep before they take effect.

All of the sites that I looked at listed mental/mood changes as side effects. That along with the other side effects must make for a very miserable time, on top of the illness that it's prescribed for.

The prednisone must have been drying up more than the mucinex was loosening up.

I hope everyone gets better soon.

I am tired today....flat tire. I am so glad i went to the dentist yesterday and sat in his chair with my mouth wide opened for him with my painful TMJ anyway....to take care of a problem I have with a lower bottom, back tooth.....for only to come home and find my pain is worse than ever...shooting sharp pain right through to my ear like someone is standing over me with a sledge hammer there and pounding away......tooth ache is the absolute worse pain...and this has been going on for weeks...just could not get to him before yesterday.....so I call him, and he prescribed an antibioitc for me to go pick up soon from my pharmacy. I hope that takes care of the problem, and this tooth is not going to need root canal.....and if it does, that is going to have to wait.

I am taking alleve now...not doing much good, either.:(
