Did a quicky mulch to a side garden in the front yard this morning. This area is right in front of the barnwood fence I built last year... Still haven't built the gate. Anyways, all that is in this flower bed are Buddleia (Butterfly Bush) The white one was there when I bought the place and I planted a lavender purple that I got on sale a month ago or so... I'm going to get a very dark violet one someday. The white one never did great but it survives. The bed was never mulched/fertilized/cared for until now. In a couple of years it's going to be vibrant with white/lavender/violet flowers in summer/fall.

Little Bandit (the raccoon) was out drinking in the meditation garden again... I went out and set a small bit of dry catfood down, pointed at it, and walked away... He didn't eat it. He does not trust me, which is a good thing actually.

Cut your butterfly bush back in February, or whatever month you see is appropriate for your zone. They need to be cut back every year and they need full sun.

I am pushing myself today to regain ground that I lost this week. My ass is dragging but I keep going.

I'm doing laundry. The first load was 3 pairs of my sneakers and 2 pairs of my rubber jesus sandals. Darks washed, lights started, and the surprise load of towels and sheets I found left in the dryer are folded.

I've got to get my brain in ballpark mode. A couple of months off from spending the day at the ballpark has everything scattered back through the house. I've got to remember what I need for 18 hours there, and then I've got to remember where all of it is. I have to clear my "launch pad" by the door and put only the stuff that has to go out with me in the morning. The chairs and the cart have to be hosed off too. I saw that the spiders had taken them over.

I'm drinking my go-go juice. Later, I'll have some kratom. After that I'll have some coffee.

That reminds me. I have to replay the voice mail that the kratom company left so I can go to the website and sign or forward whatever it its, to my congress man. I have to post that in the kratom thread.

I got some new clothes in the mail today. There is a lightweight poncho that is perfect to take to the ballpark tomorrow. It feels like a t-shirt. It will be a little chilly in the morning and after dark. The rest of the day will be hot as hell so I'll only have on a tank top and shorts.

I also got delivery of a red agate pendant. My tourmaline is doing double/triple duty right now and I needed to boost my root chakra with the red stone. I've got to dig out my leather cording for a necklace to hang it on. I'm done cleansing it now.

    Whew! Go Aerianne, go!

That really was an awful little gif of that trouble causing crow. [IMG] My mind is just too small to see the humor there.

At least dogs don't get on roofs (unless its a dog house) where they fall from and get hurt like those 2 cats were. I've had way too many cats for anybody to tell me that line of bs where a cat always fall on their feet because they Do NOT!

Yes... This is known. Not the first time I've cared for Buddleia. That's not the problem with the white one. It's just been a crap flower bed, dehydrated/cracked soil/no composted plant matter/weedy mess. Up until now anyways. I watered the white one all season and it did okay but most of that water followed the cracks in the soil and went elsewhere.... It stayed alive in the drought though. The mulch with newspaper is the first step in a process. It's so far off to the side of the front yard most people wouldn't even notice it was there, except it looked like a weedy mess with a white Buddleia in it that maybe I forgot to mow it down.. The eye is drawn to the patio garden at the front door if anybody were to visit right now.

Once the gate is finished the Buddleia garden will be more of a focal point... Gonna be an awesome gate. Gonna "make my garden gate again"

I'm worried that Emma is sick.

She's a bit lethargic. Her breathing seems a bit quick and shallow. Last night she had trouble passing her stool. She squatted several times and lingered doing that. I saw one stool. It was a little loose but not blasted diarrhea.

Oh my goodness. I don't want Emma to be sick. I'm not ready for anything to happen to her. She's younger than the triplets, so she's not even 10 years old.

    Oy Vey...

I'm bummed. The life expectancy of the Pit Bull/Plott Hound works out to about 12 years.

Emma's probably okay. Maybe she's depressed now that Piper's been gone back home for a week.

Emma loves her walks and she pepped up for a short one. She dragged me through the yard like I was 90 and she was 2. She did not push me to go the regular length and route of the walk though, so that concerns me. She usually is very strict with me about taking the appropriate length walk in the same exact manner.

Aeri, hope your daughter is feeling better and that Emma is back to her old self today.

Ty, your gardens sound so lovely and like the perfect place to curl up with a book and just sit quiet. :)

Still working on getting rid of this stupid cold. Kieran is starting to sound clearer and Mia is a little but not as much as Kieran. I think we are all fed up with this crazy thing. Been dosing on hot toddies with lemon, ginger, fennel and honey. It does seem to help.

I am hoping to get out and weed my garden bed soon, not today though. Maybe one day this week as it is cooler and will be better for me breathing. :)

Little Bandit, the raccoon, finally got some food. He was browsing in the grass out back and I opened the screen and put out some cat food. He came and ate it while I sat there on the floor with just the screen between us. He sniffed my hand a few times too.

Later in the day he thanked me by leaving the head of the big frog from the pond at the front door.... [IMG]
