    woah this got outta hand.

I think sometimes ppl just need to write their posts a little better, nothing wrong with opinions at all but just get your point across without offending half the board.......its not difficult is it??

    agree to disagree.

some like beads and some do not

Some like wraps and some do not

lol...I just read this whole thread. Starting from the last page working my way back...lol

    Back to the topic...

I have a few beads in my hair. I like to buy exotic woods, most from Africa, and made beads on the lathe. I have two that I have made so far in my hair. One is made from African Black Wood and the other is Zebra Wood. I also have a small bead my grandma got me from a head shop at Haight Ashburry in SF. I also have a small silver ring that I found in the truck of my car in my hair from the previous owner. (I've had this car since 2001 and just found this ring like a month ago). I don't put anything in my that doesn't carry some sort of meaning. I would never go to a shitty art and craft store just to buy a pack of shitty pine beads to put in my hair. Instead I enjoy making crafty type things and love the lathe and sculpting with wood. As time goes on I intend on loading my hair up more with trinkets all over the globe given to my by people stuff I make myself.

The beads actually serve very little visual purpose as far as style goes. It's a nice conversation starter for people and strangers..."What the hell do you have in your hair?"

Sometimes I'll find weed in my that's been picked up from a bowl or something. It's almost as joyful as it is unnerving sometimes.

^yeah, i left for the evening and bam! honestly, i never meant for the thread to escalate the way it did. tone is so difficult to express on the internet. i really don't feel the post was bitchy and it definitely didn't attack anyone. i was genuinely wondering the reason for it, because i just don't understand why people do it. but, i think some sensitive people that have been attacked for such activity took it completely the wrong way. and yes, i do think the decorations look funny sometimes, but it's just an opinion and i was asking for your opinions on the subject.
    take a second look:

i think it's funny that a lot of people share my opinion but, they weren't attacked by anyone that disagreed. maybe it's because they're boys, and imma girl. who cares. tell me about your beads and trinkets!

I think your first mistake was referring to beads and wraps as "shit" in the thread title. Just an observation.

    who asked you anyway? :)
the word "shit" for me is so versatile that it doesn't have a negative connotation for me.

lol@ thread. i wrap my dreads with acrylic yarn sometimes. but thats because my gf likes to do it so i let her. but i usually take it out in a day or two. i have some beads and peyote stitches. no biggie. i have some really big peyote stitches that will only fit on congos. so i have a box of stitches for when my dreads decide to fuck. i have a skull bead that looks like jack skellington that means a lot to me. its from my last set that i cut off.

^ herbalist, see the blue and green bead thing? it's a bunch of tiny beads (seed beads) strung together to make a tube. i believe its a native american art. i used to make em and sell em.
