"You may look like we do, Talk like we do, But you know how it is, Your not one of us No your not one of us" and what about a "Kev", I think thats a term for an Essex boy, low on education.
when I was at school there was a group of people that tended to be called 'nah mates' by many other people...because those were the two words they always used.... either way all this terminology is confusing and unneccessary...A society with the need to classify people into groups is pretty damn silly but unfourtunetely the one we live in...
Jeez. He meant he was only mentioning the use of the word as an aside, not as a debate point. So if I call the guy who stole my car a wanker, I'd be discriminating because not all people that masturbate steal cars? Is this the 2005 Official Jump To Daft Conclusions Thread or something?
It wasn't the way it was written. I thought that the term of chavving something predated the term chav. But thinking about the origin of chav and how long the word has been around, chavving probably was derived from it. I need to lurk more in these threads, eh?
chav/barry/kev/townie all relate to similar kinds of people. There isn't just one kind of chav/chavette. There's many different different styles to the world of chav! For example: A girl in a really tight short skirt with her tits out and calling everybody Darlin' A guy in a sports tracksuit with a burberry baseball cap on shouting Yeh Mate rinsin'!
Kev is a rather respectable name in Ireland; where I was born; where half my family lives. Ignorance feeds the power of labels.
im not defending or agreeing with anything, i was simply just saying what the name 'Chav' meant from what i've heard, maybe it being right or wrong and thats was it, seriously. Yeah i'd agree its stereotypical to say all chavs live in council estates and all that and that all of them are violent. i wasn't looking for an arguement or a debate.
you will see where i got the term 'Chav' from also on that webpage, just look under the "Origins" paragraph 7. i was merely noting on that is all, however wrong it maybe.
