names are merely things that are defined in the mind of the beholder, nomenclature is something that 2 or more people use to communicate the identity of a thing, so long as 2 or more people know a place by a name it is that name, it may have other names to other people, but it it that name to those people there is even a battle in the civil war that has 2 different names because when the north won a battle they'd name it for the nearest town, when the south won they'd name it for the nearest river, at the time no one really decided who was victorious, and so the battle has both names, both are correct, and neither is wrong..... I am my name but I may be known by many other things.....
