What would you say to your wife if she announced she's on a sex strike?

"Can you still take it in the butt?" - if my wife went on a sex strike ^.^

I don't think they should take away our contraceptives, honestly I think that government should have no say in something so private. When are we going to get over the primitive notion of the past centuries that the United States is still a Christian country? there are countless beliefs here so even if the Catholic Church says its wrong it should be up to those practicing Catholics not to use contraceptives right? Why should people with differing beliefs have their contraceptives taken away? I mean, that's just my opinion, and if I were president I would rather be pushing the use of contraceptives for those citizens who are and will have sex just because of the high unplanned pregnancy rate..

And for the record, no offense to Christians or Catholics, because I happen to be Catholic but just I don't agree with the Church on this issue..

 

The GOP is making a big deal out of this right now because they don't have anything logical to say about the real issues facing this country. It's a huge smoke screen.

 

I think it begs the question: "Is refusing to pay for contraception tatamount to denying it?" (by either insurance companies, Catholic employers or the US government)

You say that contraception is "taken away", but when it comes to the US government or insurance companies (leaving the Church out of the question), aren't they simply saying they won't pay for it?

The argument by those opposed to free contraceptives is: you can pay for it yourself, don't force me to pay for it!

Of course the counter argument is:
Pay a few bucks now for contraception or pay far more for the life of unwanted children.

As for your statement, "I don't agree with the Church on this issue..".
I wonder how much you (or anyone else) disagrees).
If the Church allows contraception in the form of the rhythm method, then they don't have a strong moral argument against more sophisticated means of doing the same thing. I think in some future age, the Church will sheepishly admit that they were wrong and you were right.
But why wait on them to see the light?
Do what you know is right and do it now.

 

My wife would never use sex as a weapon. It's just not in her nature. But if some freak accident happened that made her a manipulator, I'd divorce her without a second thought. I've got better things to do with my life than dance on some manipulative bitch's string.

 

For those who can't afford to pay for their contraceptives, refusing to pay for them would be denying it I think it's safe to say? But you are absolutely right.

its too bad we can't check off a little box when we buy insurance, whether or not we would like to pay for free contraceptive and would use it, or if we would not like to pay and therefore not have the option for free contraceptive.

First of all the government is getting involved in your sex life by forcing someone else to pay for your contraceptives. As it stands now, every one pays for their own. Just as it should be. It is not the governments business to stick their nose in where it does not belong. If you allow them to get involved the next thing they're doing is telling you what kind of contraceptive you should be using or when you should use it and if your allowed to have kids and then how many your allowed to have. Just like socialist China does.

I have two reactions, the latter has terms the former doesn't.

1. I'd tell her to go to planned parenthood and get the contraception for free if she can. (community colleges also have free condoms)

2. I'd support her, but only for so long, and only if I could have unlimited gaming time.
