Basically I have quit a few times for other jobs, school, etc. and my grandad has always really wanted me to be a more serious I want to take over the business and do this the rest of my life kind of person.. And He asked me to come back to work just like 2 weeks ago and I said yes cause I need a summer job right now since school let out. He started talking to me day 1 about all what were going to be doing today next week next month this work coming up in like a year etc.. And I think he got kinda mad when I explained I still can't work like this and need to find a new job between now and my next semester of school this fall... Although I guess that don't matter now...

It was my first time oversleeping though I woke up to like 2 missed calls from my grandad and a text from my grandmother calling me all kinda of things I would never say to someone I cared for, and to be out of the house by tonight

You’re right we’re probably not getting the full story (unless he’s asian) in which case he’s fucked because they won’t budge an inch

I don't even mind having to leave... I just needed time.. To find a better paying job and make new plans... It's hard when you lose your house, job, and cell phone all in one day.

Nah I mean it is a challenge but I feel like it's a challenge I can't overcome.. Honestly I think I'm just gonna try to hitchhike west starting in the morning and I guess well never hear from each other again unless I decided to return someday but nothin is here for me so I don't see that happening

This is what I did when I got kicked out and was broke, also I had just totalled my car so I had no transportation or phone.

I walked up to a familiar town about 8 miles away, actually held my thumb out and hitched a ride from this lady and her son, it was pretty cool.
Anyways, I had about $50 on me, I bought a tent for about $15, then spent $5 on food, saved $30.

Now my first day homeless after sleeping in the tent.
I knew I had to get food but didnt want to spend my remaining $30 so I came up with a story that I was an Afgan marine vet, and I would tell people this and ask for money. It was extremely degrading and I grew up with millionares in my family and now I was begging for money, felt so shitty, I had to be drunk to ask for money, it was the ONLY way I could get myself to go up to people.

Made about $20/hr and would do it 2 hours a day, morning and night.
Saved up on that, researched at the library about churchs that donate food, got that hookup, found a guy to sell me a bike cheap.

Found a job about 2 weeks later.
Got my first check 2 weeks after that.

Rented a motel out till my next check.

And here I am 3 years later, got my own place, work fulltime and made it through hell and back.

Being homeless is terrible and anybody that makes cracks at them obviously dosent understand what these people are going through, its quite sad.

I hope any homeless person can make it back up to a better status, sad though that dope gets ppl baddd

When I wanted to leave my X I just went, landed in BC with no idea if there was work or not, it was almost a year before I found real work, till then it was what I could do to keep little jobs, mowing lawns, and into winter shoveling driveways and helping older people. I got a bit of a name for it and peeps looked for me to help them get to doctors appointments and shopping. I wanted to come here for the weather and promises of the best place in Canada. It took a while to see it was gonna be the best move I had ever made but it turned out as I had hoped. My advice is if you have an idea where you really want to be then go for it but don't be lazy or picky what you will do. Just make a go for it and make it the best you can till it gets there.
I had bills to pay that were late, and it was a job trying to keep out of collectors agencies but in a slim way I did it mostly by keeping in contact with those wanting their money. Now I am where I want to be several years later and I don't regret a thing.
I lived in an old motorhome by myself and survived some days on rice and anything cheap to make that would last a few meals. When I made some money I bought a chocolate bar for a treat and fast energy. Try to make it an adventure and get back on your feet but don't feel sorry for yourself, that slows ya down.

This might be your next lesson, don't work for and live off of family. Do it on your own. Family can be crueler then strangers sometimes especially if you are, or they think you are sluffing off them. Get on your own feet.
My parents promised us we would not be living off then once done school, be it high school or university. Once done studying we had to get work and pay them a rent or move out. None of us depends on them. My sister and I left at 17 and my brother left at 19.
They were not being selfish, they wanted us to know how to fend for ourselves whether it be by educating first and moving on or taking the road on our own and surviving. Today tho we are all doing ok and they would lend us thousands if we needed it for a downpayment to a new house or even a hundred bucks for a pair of work boots. I know this because they helped me with my first mortgage and they did get paid back. And lemme tell ya, paying them back a chunk interest free was better then asking the bank for the whole shot.
Once working and making it they didn't care what we'd ask for but even today I think if one of us came home fired and not ready to find a new job it would be a problem. They will leave this earth with something left behind for all of us and we know that because their whole point has always been,,, You make your own way and other stuff comes later. They never gave for free but they always gave when we worked for it as well especially when we were kids, allowances came to those who showed interest in self supporting too. We even had huge piggy banks when we were kids and had to put money in them. Designer jeans and runners like our friends had came out of our pockets.

Thank you for real responses guys.. I'm just scared and think I wanna talk to people more than anything, I feel a loneliness that can't be put into words. And yeah I could probably ask for change if I was drunk I'm scared though.. I was already a pretty heavy drinker, turning to alcohol would help but I'm scared I would start to drink everyday just to be stoned enough to forget this pain and loneliness.

But in terms of work... How I'm more scared to ask for a job than change. What do I say I don't have a phone you can reach me on and no address but gimme a shot please? I mean shit I only just finished my second year of college so I don't really have shit for a resume but serving in a couple restaurants and working for my family.. I'm assuming restaurants don't hire homeless I know my old managers wouldn't.

Honestly I wish I could just go tie a concrete block to my foot, buy enough drugs to pass out and just sink to the bottom of a river.

Where did you get hired at if you don't mind me asking? How did you get past interview, etc.

I'm from such a rural area too it's just scary knowing I'm about to hitchhike like 500 miles away from everything I know. I just don't live in an area for homelessness, brightside.... Atleast the timing is perfect(weather wise )

just saw this story and it made me think of this post...................

This is one of the SADDEST stories ever told in Hollywood. His name is Sylvestar Stallone. One of the BIGGEST and Most famous American Movie superstars. Back in the day,Stallone was a
struggling actor in every definition. At some point,he got so broke that he stole his wife's jewellery and sold it. Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless. Yes,he slept at the New York bus station for 3 days. Unable to pay rent or afford food. His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor store to any
stranger. He didnt have money to feed the dog anymore. He sold it at $25 only. He says he walked away crying.

Two weeks later,he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie,ROCKY. He wrote the
script for 20 hours! He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script. But he had just ONE REQUEST. He wanted to STAR in
the movie. He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. Rocky himself. But the studio said NO. They wanted a REAL STAR.

They said he "Looked funny and talked funny". He left with his script. Afew weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused. They even offered $350,000. He still refused. They wanted his movie. But NOT him. He said NO. He had to be
    IN THAT MOVIE.

After a while, the studio agreed, gave him $35,000 for the script and let him star in it! The rest is history! The movie won Best Picture,Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious
Oscar Awards. He was even nominated for BEST ACTOR! The Movie ROCKY was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!

And do You know the first thing he bought with the $35,000? THE DOG HE SOLD. Yes,Stallone LOVED HIS DOG SO MUCH that he stood at the liquor store for 3 days waiting for the man he sold
his dog to. And on the 3rd day,he saw the man coming with the dog. Stallone explained why he sold the dog and begged for the dog back. The man refused. Stallone offered him $100. The
man refused. He offered him $500. And the guy refused. Yes,he refused even $1000. And,Believe it or Not,Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same, same dog he sold at $25 only! And he
    finally got his dog back!

And today, the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog JUST BECAUSE he couldnt even feed it anymore,is one of the GREATEST Movie Stars who ever walked the Earth!

Being broke is BAD. Really BAD. Have You ever had a dream? A wonderful dream? But You are too broke to implement it? Too tiny to do it? Too small to accomplish it? Damn! I've been there too many times!

Life is tough. Opportunities will pass you by,just because you are a
NOBODY. People will want your products but NOT YOU. Its a tough
world. If you aint already famous,or rich or "connected",You will find it rough.
Doors will be shut on You. People will steal your glory and crash your hopes. You will push and push. And yet NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

And then your hopes will be crashed. You will be broke. Damn broke. You will do odd jobs for survival. You will be unable to feed yourself. And Yes,you may end up sleeping in the streets.
    It happens. Yes,it does.

BUT NEVER LET THEM CRUSH THAT DREAM. Whatever happens to
You,Keep Dreaming. Even when they crush your hopes,Keep Dreaming. Even when they turn you away,Keep Dreaming.
Even when they shut you down,Keep Dreaming.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF EXCEPT YOURSELF! People will judge You by HOW you look. And by WHAT You have.
But please,Fight on! Fight for Your place in history. Fight for your glory. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Even if it means selling all your clothes and sleeping with the dogs,ITS OKAY! But AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE,Your STORY IS NOT OVER. TRUST ME.

Keep Up the Fight. Keep your dreams and hope alive. Go gerrit.

Like and share if inspired. Lovely day

you could sell your car and use the money to buy a bus ticket to somewhere that you think you'd have a better chance of finding work. or at least to a town or city, as there would be more services available to assist you. find a shelter to stay in until you get back on your feet, or a cheap hostel. ask everyone you talk to if they know someone who has a day or two of work available.

do you have anything worth any money? television, playstation/xbox, etc? probably time to list those on craigslist/kijiji.

look into getting a cheap pay as you go cellphone, or the 'obamaphone' that someone else mentioned (i'm in canada, so I don't know anything about that).

Make your way to the nearest shelter and see if they can help you get back on your feet. If you can get to boulder you can sure as hell find a way to a shelter

Fuck shelters bro, I went to one once, worse then the streets, fucking crackheads who are going to get you into hard drugs and shit.
Go for a free meal but not to stay fuck that bullshit. lol

I got lucky when I got hired in, because I walked in filled out an app, the owner was there, interviewd me on the spot and said come in the next day at noon. So me not having a cellphone didnt matter, I never told him I was homeless or anything.

I was bathing in the lake everyday and still shaving, brushing my teeth, etc...
So I didnt really look homeless, otherwise it probably is hard to find a job if you go in grungy.

A place by me called ReadyWork, is first come first serve, work starts at 7am, minimum wage for jobs like roofing and bullshit that you should be making at least 11/Hr but you cant get denied work and you just show up and work, can def help.

Look into places that give food out but I suggest staying away from shelters, just a bad batch of people that will probably bring you down and you want to get out of this situation not stay in it.

Shit come to Michigan bro, I'll hook you up with a cooking job 40+hours a week, Ive "payed it foward" to ALOT of homeless people since my time I was homeless. I also have a spare bedroom open, not trying to sound creepy or anything Im just saying, the ONLY reason I survived homeless was by other peoples good actions, so now I give the favor back whenever I can..

And I got hired in at a local fast food spot, worked there till I found a better job.
Landscaping around here pays very well too, I did that for a few summers.
I was probably one of 5 homeless in my town, its a suburb just past Detroit so Im not in the homeless crackhead areas but I probably did better at making money in the suburbs then the bums in Detroit do, because those guys living on the street in Detroit can be so fucking annoying, I would actually create conversation and sometimes talk to the person who gave me money for 15minutes or more, you have to be friendly, have a smile, look people dead in the eyes, have a good ass story made up in your head, usually being a vet works well, I said I handled the intel on the ground with IED's and would sometimes have to get into "elaborate" details about my marine duties and such lol.
Begging isnt as bad as it may seem if you follow this rule, I had to tell myself it alot to stay focused and make money.

"The Worst you can get is a No", if you get a yes get the cash and be happy if not dont sweat it just move on to the next and dont worry, you have to have the minset of a sales person walking door to door, your not going to get a sale everytime and sometimes people will be very rude, just laugh them off, because YOU know one day you'll make it back, then you can laugh back at that type of person.
