one thing us bullied kids learned most in school is how to read a bullshit artist and who to trust and who not to trust. but every now and then, someone will pretend to be a friend, and having been so universally rejected as a child, we'll reach out and embrace all that person's idiosyncracies and occaisional disagreements because we know what it's like and our standards really aren't that high. we don't grow up expecting to be loved and accepted by everyone, nor do we expect to accept everyone.

but sometimes the need to trust someone with our true selves overcomes our hard earned common sense. we'll take a lotta shit, we'll defend that friend for years, even knowing why someone is annoyed by that person, and try to help people understand why you're still friends with them despite no obvious reason why one should still be so.

and then, one day, that friend, or at least friendly acquaintance, blows shit all over everything. the betrayal is so painful, so abosolute, so embarassingly obvious and you wonder why you ever bothered. to have someone be kind to your face and talk mad shit about you behind your back is soul burning. i'm sure they can rationalize it and call it tact or being polite, but after being burned enough, you really wish they'd just been honest from the get go and saved a lotta energy.

I'm not saying "bullied people are bad".
But I've known some and it was "the abused becomes the abuser".Or atleast some have got a hardened exterior to the point of being very callous.Its like they cant handle relating to people and they wanna feel a balance of power by dissing others.Its like when u wanna be friends but they've gotta "score points" etc against u.

I'm had relats with , and am friends with quite a few people who were "bullied" as kids.I wouldnt say I was in that category , but I was certainly an outsider cos I grew up outside England .And also when very young , wanted to be friends with the "fat bastard who worked hard" etc etc

Maybe some ex bullied kids are bullied in adult life too- if thats what u mean by taking shit?

BTW I've never seen these characteristisc in u , but I do think they're possibly present in one or 2 people I've been friendly with here.

I hate 2 faced people but if someone really chose to offends my feelings , then extremely rarely I'll "mirror them" and maybe set out to offend them back.But thats because I was expecting better of them.

But some of em were only prepared to seeing things from their point of view.
If someone I was friendly with accused me of being fickle or false , I don't think I could think of anything I could be more offended by.
Because me being genuine to people I'm friendly with is as important as anything to me.

Anyway , interesting topic...

 

the two things i value most in people are loyalty and honesty. people don't have to like me, i don't have to like them. but i can get along with just about anyone until they lose my respect. then yes, i will seek vengeance and i will be cruel. better to sever all possibilities of a pretend make-up. burn that bridge and seek like eslewhere. i'd prefer someone telling me they think i'm a dumb **** to my face than shovel shit and call it sunshine.

Hmm the problem with "honesty" in one way is that it can just be a weapon to bully , degrade and exercise power over others.I mean should someone really say "fuck your girlfriend is ugly and you could do soooo much better"? etc.
I call that bluntness.To me honesty is not lying or cheating.

Yeah I agree that make ups need to be real.

Sometimes things are about context.I'd never read a girlfriend's diary because I wouldnt understand how to read it , u know?

I always try and be diplomatic in disputes I have ( which are very rare).Lack of communication is something I find very hard to handle.

One of my oldest friends become thoroughly horrible after his Mrs was screwing round behind his back.He's lost a lot of friends.Its really the "abused wants to become the abuser".Its like what I say to him goes straight over his head.

 

wen someone lies about what they did or what they have.. i knew a fella once who boasted AALLL the time... but they wer all lies.. that pissed me off.. no.1 i hate people boastin. no.2 i hate liars ...

 

cruelty is uncalled for. but i'm not so evolved that i won't run someone the fuck off if i want nothign to do with them anymore. yes, that includes bullying. and i'm not ashamed of it.

To me bullying is sort of mis-exercising power .. because u can.. for no good reason.

Sometimes people will do bad things to someone as "revenge".. because they like actually still like them and were frustrated by them.Someone they really hate - they cant be bothered one way or the other.

yeah, that last is what i call shoveling shit and calling it sunshine. hurt expresses itself in many ways. i like to get everything out and on the table and dealt with. then i can behave with a degree of civility because the infected canker has been cleansed.

My gramma taught me never to make fun of or disparage others that are less fortunate than me.I never bullied anyone and no one bullied me.And I did not allow anyone to be bullied around me when in school or otherwise.It's so sad to see people hurt inside from smart-ass fucks that like to push people around or humiliate them .I've taught my kids this and they're teaching my grand kids the same.I dislike bullies of any kind.So there.
