Me... I wouldn't worry very much at all... I'd get more done as I wouldnt be online.

And to be clear... I would still have working computers... and even though there would be nothing to connect to, you wouldn't believe the amount of information you can store on harddrvies when you aren't stocking up on porn... lol

The only thing that any of it would really change (besides the lack of communications) for us would be that we wouldn't be able to have any lights for indoor grows (for tomotoes and such of course...lol)...

Oh that's not right... something else would change... I wouldnt have to worry about waiting for the law to take care of some issues that need to be dealt with... Issues such as the local child molesters and such that the cops can't 'prove' are guilty...

actually.. If you have older ballast for hps/Mh and not solid state, An EMP wouldnt kill them. A magnetic generator will also survive..

Things with transistors and mosfets will not work unless shielded.
There is also a paint that can be used to block out emp. I think it has lead in it though.

It was the power requirement to run them that would keep me from doing it.

I am more then able to generate more then enough power for our normal needs here (and would be after an pulse). But even just using a 400w would be 7200watts a day for vegging and 4800 during 'fruiting'...

That's a lot of power... Also have to keep in mind that with no replacement parts available (except scavenging), the less you need to use stuff like that, the better.

I am not to concerned, I got plenty of canned food and if I run out of food there is a lake about 20 minute walk from here that has easy to catch pan fish and bass.

I have plenty of jugs of water and if I run out I have a hot water heater full of water.

Got my gun with plenty of ammo which will come in handy for hunting small game and for protection.

When the lights go out, first I will panic. Then I will plead to Obama to save me.

I'd probably become a looter. Otherwise, I do look forward to having no power. When we had the hurricane, I was praying we lost power. I'd enjoy the vacation :D

I'd try to make my way to a small island somewhere, perhaps Cortes or Lasqueti in BC. They have small close knit communities, lots of sustainable agriculture and alternative energy and great natural foraging possibilities. ( Lots of deer, fish, berries etc )
Also, being pretty remote islands they'd have less chance of being ''raped and pillaged'' and easier to defend if that happened.
The one problem would be getting there, since I live in Europe. I guess I'd better brush up on my rowing skills....

One of my oldest friends is the founder of one of the oldest and largest Latino gangs in my city. I know alot of them also. I think I would try to band up with them for safety in numbers, etc.

I just got done calling him trying to get my AK-47 back that I sold him when I was out of work for so long a while ago.

Right now I only have two pistols and a few boxes of bullets for them. That should get me from a to b a few times.

I also have a machete. And I still have a few clips and a bunch of ammo for the AK that he didn't want to buy at the time. And a couple boxes of old 12 ga. shells.

If it happened right now, and I didn't have my rifle, I wonder how many of my extra bullets someone would want from me for a can of food in trade.

I know I could just use one bullet from my pistol and get all the food the person had, but I could never bring myself to do that. I'd die of hunger first.

Knowing my luck, I'll get shot walking up to someone to ask them for food.

There are around 4,192,887 people in my lil one horse town (2010 Census). Things might get a little ugly around here.

I know the first thing on everyones list will be to rip open the food stores and gas stations, etc! People might even try to take control of those places.

I'm not looking forward to the experience.

A week or two to strip everything edible within the city, another week for 50 miles around the city, then the survivors will spread out like locusts, devouring everything they come across, including each other when they stumble...

The majority of the swarms will follow the paths of least resistance... namely the roads, rail ways and such.

Bridges will become the border guards against such hoards. The more bridges (that are crossing more then shallow ravines) between where you hide and the hoards... the safer you will be.

If my ECU survived it, go load up my hatchback at the canned goods section. If it didn't, convert my car into a house, (and fortify it) and find a wagon to tow with my bike for canned goods.

And save all the ice in something heavily insulated that I can, and rob a pharmacy for insulin.

And then get drunk, and try to stay holed up and safe until such a time as I can get more properly refrigerated insulin. Eat little, expend little energy, try to make it last. Could last a few months maybe before it would start going bad, after I ran out of ice. Hopefully by then we would all either be dead or have opened supply lines for medicine and food.

Also, hit up the hardware store, and employ their own bolt cutters to liberate myself a quality firearm or 3, some sturdy knives, and any hand tools and other supplies I'd need.

*edit* I guess I'd also have to get any other meds I could at the pharmacy. Amphetamines could be useful and life saving, even, and opiates could be useful in case of severe injury, or as barganing chips.

The thing is, I'm too generous, and would feel the need to feed and help everyone, and then we'd all just starve sooner, rather than me later.

I'd panic. I mean, how will I get my daily exercise when my gym closes down? No treadmills, stepping machines is a scary though.
