What were you like in high school?

I started out in high school much too scrawny and academic to be the least bit popular. Then I started looking a lot better, and suddenly, all the jocks and assholes thought I was going to forget how they had treated me before. Not a chance that was going to happen. Revenge was sweet! Those guys got just what the deserved. I stayed loyal to the friends who had treated me well from the beginning.

I had only been there a few years. To really fit in, you had to have been born in that town.

I would say eccentric. I graduated year 12, but never enjoyed school from day dot. I was the sort who had friends but enjoy my own company as well. Was one of the few who gained a sense of who they are/aim to be early, rather then give two shits over popularity. I could read two books at a time, and got along pretty well with most people. I proffered art over most organised sports.

I did two years at college shortly after graduation and enjoyed that more, I recon. Studied art and math, plus took gym, which I liked very much.

At my HS, You were a prep, Jock, Freak show, Nerd, Stoner or a hick. Too many mouthy blacks that needed to meet our steel toe boots in the parking lot after school.

But i was a class clown/who gives a shit. I hung around friends who did the same thing, Our dads worked at the same place etc. You stayed with your own and if someone opened their mouth, You went and shut it for them.

The good ol days. Where else can you get a huge lunch for $3? Come and go as you please and smoke breaks all the time. They tried to "tighten" up around the school, But it didnt effect us one bit.

I guess people maybe considered me a nerd or a princess. I was quiet in school, and sweet. All the teachers loved me, I was in advanced classes and made good grades.

I was a hellion outside of school. I was restless and wild and always wanted to get into shit. I mostly hung out with kids from other schools so very few people at my school really knew the real me.

you can be whatever you want to be.

although you probably can't go and do it while posing as a high schooler anymore, unless you're in a cheesy comedy movie.

This reminds me of this weird guy in England.
He went back to school the school he used to be at. And decided he would be a pupil PRETENDING TO BE 16! He was really short and thin, so could actually get away with it.

Anyway, I don't know how, but he ended up being the "Head Boy" and shit.
Anyway he left at 36!!(claiming to be 18) and got a place at medical school!

I think in the 1st term at university, they worked out he wasnt really an 18 yr old but a 36 yr old, who'd previously been at high school 18 years before.

He got kicked out of medical school, and I'm not sure what happened next.
I think the cops got involved and stuff.
(I cant remember if he had a girlfriend who was 15 or something weird...)

But, the question remains, if someone say 25, 35 or whatever went back to school, I would if/how their life path may or may not have changed...

i was firmly (and proudly) in the nerd/geek territory, and still am, i was also a massive stoner, although that wasn't really a status that i had in school, since i did all my smoking after school and generally with only a few friends from the school that i went to with the majority hailing from elsewhere.

tbh, i don't think my school was particularly cliquey in that sense, or at least in the american teen comedy/drama sort of way, people mingled pretty much freely, but tended to gravitate to others who shared there interests more often than not. but it was never as tribal as portrayed in films etc.

freaks, geeks and nerds always seemed to be the most interesting people to me, they were out of the social rat race and free to do whatever the fuck they wanted, no matter what others thought of them. in fact, i've always thought of geekdom as being fairly synonymous with passion; generally for things considered "unworthy". plus, if you find yourself labelled as "geek" ("neek" down my way) what you tended to find was that the people who avoided you on the basis of that label tended to be exactly the people who you'd want to avoid as well :)

plus, the geek table at our school had the best weed, we just kept it to ourselves ;)

I was an introverted jock who sleep through most classes and hung out with the local gangs and gear heads after school and on week ends at drinking parties. I was the treasurer of one gang, we called them fraternities; we pan handled for beer money and looked for fights. There was a school walkout that lasted for three days when they tried to prohibit wearing frat jackets.

Beer parties were held at a local field by everyone in the county or at burger joints, or cars. We also had parties at a certain buddies house, in his basement. We chiseled the blocks out of a section of the basement wall, made a small cave and hung an American flag over it to store the beer and wine. One time a fight broke out and six state cop cars responded to break it up.
The place was staked out by the cops and the phone was tapped. He lived with his mother and grandmother, sweet souls.

We also had rolling parties that moved about town and we wrecked a lot of our cars.
Then we expanded our repertoire to include other substances as they became available. Which lead to many other numerous adventures.

Not everyone made it out of that era. I wouldn't advise trying that life style, now that I'm older..

I'm going with princess. But I had a weird highschool experience because I came from Germany to Australia where I was not going to school as my father educated my sisters and I due to political stuff at our schools at the time. So I was put in a school different from my sisters and I was basically a young 13 year old German girl who knew no one, didn't know the country.. awkward... But I met some friends at least, they were a few years older than me but they were interested in me and I them and it worked out. I studied hard, accomplished a sports medicine degree..

I was the stoner until the end of grade 11. Grade 12 and 13 not at all as it no longer fit.

Me too. Although I eventually became really awesome at shooting pool (does that count as a sport)? However, I picked up these skills because I was hanging out at too many bars during my early twenties. :D

Judging from the poll - it looks like most high school students are stoners and/or eccentrics. LOL.

That's awesome. I started out as #4 (eccentric) and I'm still that way. Some things never change. LOL.
