Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan was released June 4, 1982 in the US. On that date I was at the Princess Theater in Mayfield, KY with my cousin Bob to watch the show. In a couple of months I would start high school. Anyone remember what's they were doing when Spock died? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVIt0DYKssI
i would have been graduating from grade 1 at that time...and recovering from the longest hospital stay ive had so far no idea what i was doing but if it was a weekend id probably place my bets on being at my grandparents cottage chasing frogs
Hey, I thought you meant when Leonard Nimoy passed away. I have no idea, but he's dead you know. March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015 R.I.P. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Nimoy
Wow...really? This is like, the ultimate Nerd question. LOL Most normal, non-nerds would ask shit like, "What were you doing when 9/11 happened? Or.."when Michael Jackson died?" Or JFK? Or...when OJ was found innocent? But...when Spock died? I am proud to say that I didn't even know he was dead, so I have no clue when he died, nor what I was doing at the time. Probably....you know....having a life? LOL Cheers.
I Thought Of A Dozen Replies......But Being The Gentleman I Am I Decided Against It...... Cheers Glen.
I was two years old. Who knows what I was doing. Probably eating a piece of bologna. Is that movie where Spock dies any good?
In the local movie theatre with my parents watching Admiral Kirk take on his old nemesis Khan Noonien Singh Hotwater
actually met him at a convention in portland oregon a few years latter. yes i thought the movie was pretty good. i was a member of the PORtland (oregon) Science Fiction Society at the time of the movie. which i think i was with others when i watched it. as for when nemoy/savak died, well i learned about it on the internet. i so i was obviously on the computer on the internet. 1982 i was 34 years old. difficult for me to realize what was almost half my livetime ago. the 70s and 80s were the decades i was the most really living. even though a lot of things hadn't gone entirely as i would have hoped. but so many people saying they were little or hadn't been born yet, just wow, just makes me feel like i'm the buddha or lao tsu or some ancient sage, except i know i'm not that wise or even smart. the spock character was a kind of reference point for me, has been all my life, for how to deal with difficult times and people.
I know, weird. I noticed not long ago that I was the oldest person where I work. I'd mention something that I thought of as common knowledge and get a blank stare from people. And of course I have know idea what they're talking about half the time, especially when the topic is music or popular culture. What I'll never get used to is people staring into their phones at break instead of talking and cutting up with one another. They are good people though.
I dont get it when they dont have a clue about movies/ music that was most popular 20 years before. I was a child of the 80s, back then I knew who Bogart was, Deep Purple, hell had even watched all the Marx Brothers movie, stuff up to 50 years before. Couple months back, friends niece had never heard of Silence of the Lambs, no idea what it was, im like dafuq? Only the best horror crime drama ever, still one of the few that got all the main five oscars.......she was late 20s....becuase they dont do any standing around in video stores looking for what VHS to make up 5 for $7 anymore. Has to be part of a meme nowadays otherwise they have no clue
Glad I'm not the only old fogy around here. I was 31 and had already seen the original series and reruns billions of times......also Rocky Jones, Space Ranger and shit like that...Vena Ray was much hotter than Spock.
