    Lets See That would have Been hmmmmdkalriebkdkwurbclejkrjhrmnsklweklpane!-or something like that-I think thats what they called it-Or maybe it was hsmeorbnxclcvmslanchrioops ;xc;blotter-or was that the blue sjkv,e rtic,aksuujhbxkklllpopsdj-I really cannot remember-That was exactley 40 years ago!-In 66; wow-how time flys when yer havin fun-OK-Lets say I can remember that far back -the true story goes

    something like this-It was a beautiful California day-I am on the beach surfing with my buds in Pacifica-A big old bus pulls up to the beach and a bunch of very wierd looking people get off and come over and talk to us-They gave us some pot and we smoked then they gave us acid-Nobody had heard of it or tried it-We ate it-We were never the same after that-That night we were in the city at the electric cool-aid acid tests at Longshoremans Hall down by Fishermans Wharf- wild[ fine time-lots more of this stuff called acid and alot more strange people-The Dead played and we were all VERY HIGH-The windows were melting' peoples faces were funny and distorted and the music was loud and great-The lights were alot of color all over -blacklites and liquid projection -People had their bodies painted in day-glo paint and lit up under the blacklights and the strobe lights were very intense-All over sensory overload-The place smelled like patouli oil and incense-and pot-There was a big bowl of "punch"-free for the takin-(careful)hahaha-After everyone was in the doors were closed pretty much for the night-no cops no trouble and maybe a couple hundred of us flyin all night-trans love airways-get ya there on time! what a night!-When the sun came up most of us were still trippin but in a mellow mood-The seagulls squaked and the ocean smelled nice-I headed home thinkin we had just done some very powerful magic-real strong and very pure-but then; as it was now only my 2nd time -there was no way to gage it-how can you compare it?-To what?-It was brand new-it was Mr. Owsleys finest hour!-No matter what the color or form of acid-In San Francisco in 66' it was made by Owsley-He was the Wizard of Ozz-and he is alive and well and lives in Grass Valley I hear-I hope he is doing great and I want to thank him if he reads this-We ;of that time and place owe him many cheers for the fine times and mind opening journeys-long live the WIZ!

    ---Barterjunkie-That little story brings back some good memories-Laguna Beach was always my favorite place in Southern Cal in those daze-I was a surfer and the amount of sun and beautiful surfer girls was great-Blue Cheer was also' (The acid not the group-)I took Blue Cheer acid and went to hear Blue Cheer one night back home in S.F. and the sensory overload was well-it must be similiar to the sound effects of an atomic bomb-Gee-What would it have been like in the 40s to be out in the desert and watch the atomic bomb tests while tripping-?What a rush!

    -Sugarmaggie-If I was 20 or so years younger and it was 66' again I would have loved to get high with you and go to the Fillmore in San Francisco-We could listen to Janis or The Doors all night and trip our brains out out-The price would be 3 bucks to get in and 1 buck if that; for the acid-and the good part was-it was LEGAL!-funny; at that time if you were under 21 you could take all the acid you wanted and not break the law; but if you got caught with a beer you could go to jail-If you got caught with 1 joint of pot you could go to prison!-The next year acid became illegal but many people actually went to prison for less then 1 ounce of pot--The acid then was super strong and 1 hit was really all you needed- any more and you could actually lose your mind; many did;

    You know, you folks are truly amazing. How do you even remember the names of all those. Hell I can barely remember 1967. I'm continully tripping on this thread. Everytime someone names a new one I'm all "YA! I remember that. lol We used to play poker with our neighbors in one of those 60's apartments with the Tiki God statue in the front, and one of those multi-pointed metal star things with a light behind it. Anyway, we would use bennies (white cross) for poker chips. The neighbors were dealing acid, and I got my first hit from them. It was purple and it was supposed to be Owsley. I don't know if it was Purple Haze or Monterey purple, or if it was even Owsley, but it was a tab, a purple wedge, and it was awesome. I was having a nice talk with the Tiki God while someone was holding the street and lifting and lowering it like when you shake a long carpet? We lived near LAX and the jets would come over our heads real loud. My room mate went outside, and this jet was coming in really low. He thought it was a space ship, and we were being invaded by aliens, so he took off running down the street.

    Now let me set the scene. 2 straight dudes are walking down the street when this long haired freeakazoid who thinks we are in the midst of an invasion comes running up to them, and all scary eyed says "What's going on?" The two guys are totally freaked out, and in shakey voices say "Ahhhh We don't know man". So now he's really freaked out and takes off running. Now also near where we lived was the Los Angeles Forum, a large auditorium where the Lakers would play, and they had concerts. So Louie (that was his name) gets within sight of the forum.

    So let me set the scene (again). There was a championship fight that night and the arena was packed. So was the parking lot. I know you all have been to some event, where it takes an hour to get out of the parking lot after a show. So, our hero Louie arrives to within view of the forum about two minutes after the fight had ended. What he sees are the doors flinging open and guys pouring out and running as fast as they can out of the place to get to their cars so they can escape the inevitable traffic jam. But that isn't what poor Louie sees. He sees people frightened to death from the news of an alien invasion, running for their lives as fast as they can.

    Well that's all our boy needs to see. He figures the safest place is home, under his bed. I'm done talking to Tikis by now and am laying on the floor on my back, with the stereo speakers on either side of my head a few inches away from my ears. My other room mate has just brought home a new album called Are You Experienced?, and I'm listening to it for the first time. Louie bursts in and recounts his tale and goes to the bedroom and crawls inder his bed. He would stay there for about the next twelve hours. Me....I could care less about aliens. I'm just trying to figure out who hung all the Mexican Serapes on the walls, and why the walls were breathing? Maybe I should consult the Tiki?

    Where's that Tiki when I need him?

    Ahhh !!! Surfing & Surfer girls in Laguna, 60's, 99 Steps Nude Beach, Pirates Cove, Good people living in Day-Glo painted Refridgerator boxes on the beach in Scotsman's (sp) Cove, just North of Laguna towards Newport Beach, Leary, John & Yoko playing music in the canyon, sleeping and tripping, and being trapped in the cave just North of Crystal Bay off of Seal Rock during High tide, having this creamy little blonde surfer girl taking advantage of me in that same cave followed the next night by a little trip up to the Anaheim Convention Center to see Donovan and Jimi Hendrix on some of that pure Sandoz that was around then. Yes, It was pretty rough living back then in Southern Cal but someone had to do it. Speaking of listening to the group Blue Cheer, we used to have block parties back then in Laguna, closing off 3 blks. and Blue Cheer playing. To this day I'm convinced the Beach Boys were writing their songs about Laguna, Newport, and Dana Point. I would trade the rest of my life for a year in those times. Peace

    Yeah oh yeah. You and me both. In a heartbeat. Although as far as the surfing went, I seldom ventured south of the drain pipe in Huntington. I was a Redondo Breakwater local. Though I loved Swamies or Cardiff reef (before they ruined it) or Dana Point (before they built the harbor and ruined the point)when it got big.

    I am not really old enough to experience the good stuff, but my first was seven hits of really strong blotter my 'friends' gave me in Jim Suffecools basement while his parents had their annual christmas party upstairs.

    We ended up 'letting' ourselves into a newly built house across the street and sitting up in this dreamy empty dining room with french doors and a view of the valley. I was pretty much gone.

    The hallucinations were so strong I could not tell them from what they were not, lol. I saw so many things that night, but among the most memorable was the camel with elaborately painted numbers on it's saddle blankets that kept coming around like those chicks in the boxing rings. That sucker kept coming around singing the song from Raggedy ann and andy's musical adventure, something about wanting to go home...

    Then there was the grey man on a grey horse that came riding though the valley and past our open doors, cape billowing and just as mysteriously riding off into the mist...We listened to Houses of the holy all night long and I could not speak for two days. I remember going home the next morning, my brain feeling like it had just been pan fried and sitting on the upstairs balcony off my room and just rocking with a quilt all tucked up around me in my rocker for the entire rest of the day, with that wonderful feeling of 'knowing' and that shit eating grin and these incredible low flying clouds in the crisp fall wind...Those kinds of clouds/crispness combos always make me feel a wonderful quickening to this day.

    :) love all your stories
