the most beautful place in nature that i've ever seen that took my breathe away the first time i saw it was Lake Tahoe, and seeing the Seirra Nevadas in the back, i think thats what they are called. Up in the mountains. I love mountains. It was the most peaceful and perfect places i have ever been too. I also love Devils Lake in wisconsin, I go rock climbing there its awesome, and my backyard is pretty. I like on a little lake, and i love it. I seem to like lakes... haha

I have to agree. That is amazing to see. ALL that water and it never stops?!?!?!

I was lucky enough to go to a place once called Havasu Falls off the Grand Canyon. An Indian Reservation, remote, oasis like, with travertine pools made by the falls. Simply magical.

Krausa Springs or maybe Hamilton pool both in Texas near Astin. I used to live in Austin (lots hippies there) anyway, we would travel to all the local watering holes. Hamitlon Pool was this giant watering hole underneah a cliff. The water was beautifal and cold and the place was full of gars, and catfish, and turtles and was surrounded by Cyprus trees and boulders. It got crowded thougha and 1 time this dude climbed up a huge tree and jumped off and everyone thought he was gonna die. He lived but the park rangers yelled at him. And Krausa springs is seldom crowded and gorgous with a cave, a waterfall, and beautifal rocks streaming with crystal water which leads to a gorgous watering hole and a river nearby. The property was owned by an older couple who kindly allowed visitors in with a small charge of like...$3 I think.

Well the most profound place I have visited was at Wakarusa festival in Lawrence, Kansas. I had eaten some mushrooms and I was walking over this small bridge that went over this pond and there was the most beautiful trees all around me. I had such a great appreciation for it all that I wandered around that area for nearly 2 hours watching the sunset and listening to the insects sing. It was really amazing and something that I'll never forget. It was probably the most important moment for me when it comes to environmentalism because it was the first time I was turned on to a real appreciation for the natural world.

I'd second Garden of the Gods and also Roxborough State Park (Douglas County, Colorado, some damage from the Hayman fire, 2002)
also, the stretch of forest in NorCal outside of Quincy.
Payson Ariz., was always nice, I've not been back in YEARS.
    Tres Peidres, NM

    Zion National Park.
EDIT: My dad's been up to Alaska twice, and has shown me pictures. I'm betting if I went there I'd change my answer.

There's two that really come to mind. Both in Michigan. There's the Au Sable River, where I was camping. I spent the day sitting on a little bluff right above the river, watching the water flow and the birds gathering and feeding on the marshy areas in the middle (sandbars I guess). As I looked down river there were tons of those marshy areas (there's a dam on the river, and where I was was near where the dam lake starts, so the silt was all settling I guess).

Then, even more amazing, were the Porcupine Mountains in the Western UP. Nothing like old growth forest, it's wonderful. Then when we hiked the escarpment trail, you're basically walking along a cliff overlooking the Little Carp River and Lake of the Clouds (amazing) plus the rest of the park, with it's beautiful hills all covered in late summer greens. The sun was shining, the breeze was cool and refreshing, and the view was spectacular.
