Yeah ok. We all should've busted our ass to work full time while trying to get an education. Nobody said anything about waiting for "ideal circumstances", but I don't know very many 16 year olds that are mature enough to sustain on their own. Hell I don't know a whole lot of 18 year olds that are mature enough to sustain on their own either for that matter. Although they're still more qualified than 99% of the 16 year olds I've come across. You want advice? It's cold outside. Not that I know you, because I obviously don't, but if you try to live on your own and go to school, statistics say that you're going to fail at one or the other. What do you plan to do when your parents give up, and tell you it's ok to leave. Then when you fall flat on your face they tell you that you can't come home? Sorry, but unless your parents are drunkards that beat you mercilessly than the free ride is worth the lack of freedom. You've got 2 more years to graduate highschool, and I'm willing to bet you wont be with your girlfriend by then.
Maturity comes from experiences. I can't think of a better way to gain maturity than to get out there and do it. But, ah...fuck it. Staying in school and playing with your hacky sack is safer. Then it's off to business school, where you do the same thing for four more years, sucking the Parent Tit dry while you're at it. Nowhere in my post did I say it would be easy for them. Jesus. Everyone's so goddamned touchy.
sorry that you are middle aged and bored, and that you are wondering where half of your life went. As you say yourself, disilluionsed fuck, seems to fit perfectly.
heheeh the only one i read as touchy here is you an the kid that started the thread.. hehhe but then again,, yall just words on my screen.. luv n light
I also can't think of a better way to dig yourself into a major hole before you're even smart enough to realize what the fuck you're doing to your life. Maturity comes from experiences, yes. However moving out on your own and flopping horribly isn't the kind of experience one needs. Just because you were appearantly a fucking loser in highschool who did nothing but fuck off doesn't mean it can't be productive for other people. Tell you what though. If you tell me you left home at 16 and still managed to live a decent, productive life than I will digress, but something tells me that's not the case. Ditto.
man i left home at 15 an i gotta lot to show for it.. but 2 generations is a hellu long time in todays world.. i look at kids today an shake my head.. hell im comfortable in semi babylon an look at myself anshake my head.. but yeah,, kids are clueless.. an lifes a hellu lot harder than it was 20 years ago..
you believe correctly, i really truly dont feel sorry for you. Its just the bitch in me coming out. its all good
You may be right about that one. and just so you know if you ever wish to address me as bitch, make sure and say MS. BITCH k?
Past tense, bud. Did it hurt your feelings? Something tells me not to be surprised if I hear back about that from a mod
hi zpiper. I would just tell them; "Mom. dad, sit down. I have something to tell you..." Then I would brace myself for alot of hysterics and yelling (let them have that. they need it and you owe it to them to let them freak out on you a bit. not saying you deserve it, just saying it's a "parents rights" sort of thing) Don't try to talk to them about it until they get that out of their system (hint:the calmer you stay while they're screaming at you, the sooner they will calm down). I would put a proviso in my plan along the lines of "...and I promise if it doesn't work out I'll come home (wherever home is by then)" that might ease their minds a little and it gives you a backup plan. I'll withold judgement about whether or not you should actually go through with it because I don't know you and anyway that's not what you were asking for. Sounds like you have a plan, and a job, and that's a good start. If you can somehow manage to stay on good terms with your family, to the extent where if it doesn't work out you wont wind up on the street, then why not.
