I take pollution VERY seriously. I wish I had a safe place on the internet to store my pics, and you'd see my efforts. Maybe someother time I suppose.

I have to say that of all the litter out there, the worst is cigarette butts. I imagine that there are very few smokers that do not dump their butts in public. I have gone around where people fish, for example, and I found that most of the litter is either spent fishing line or cigarette butts.

I am quite partial to water, myself, when picking up litter. Several reasons.
First, water is a solvent. If you studied chemistry in college, you know what I mean. Water helps break compounds down.

Second and most important, the mere presence of water will attract animals. In my youth I was very active along the Colorado River.

    • I found a duck (dead) strangled on the plastic 6 ring carriers for canned beverages.
    • I once found a fish tangled up in fishing line, hook in it's mouth, the line tangled in the weeds and floating trash-wood. Dead, of course.
    • I saw a muskrat once that had a fish hook embedded in side of it's mouth.
When I find litter, I just want to pick it all up. Sadly with my back like it is, I think my days of picking up litter are no where near as enjoyable as they once were.

Enjoying picking up litter? You bet! I see it as a karma thing. I am a Christian, but I still beleive that the trees and plants, like the animals and humans, have personalities. The feeling I have in an area after I pick up the litter, I "feel" far more welcome than before. Sounds crazy I guess, but it is what it is.
