    Hello everybody!

I'd like to share with you what happened few hours ago.
I was at work (night shift) when I got an email from US Amazon customer care (I'm from Italy, so I use Italian version of Amazon): substantially they say me that my inquiry about a certain Nintendo 3DS game had been sent to a certain seller.
I was pretty puzzled because, as I said, I've never ever used US version and I am not interested in Nintendo products.
So I tried to understand if the email was spam or phasing, and I discovered the sender was ok (cs-reply@amazon.com).
Then I contacted Italian Amazon via Facebook and they told me to check if the sender was "credible".
Eventually I also contacted US Amazon customer service and after short time they replied me that there had been a mistake in the sending of the email, "Upon checking your account details, I have found that the order is not placed from your account. After further investigation I have found that due to technical in system this email was sent to you."
In the morning, while I was sleeping, I also got a phone call from an Irish number which is ascribable to Amazon. I didn't answer.
Now, have you ever experienced anything like this?

i've only once ever bought anything off of them, and have long since not had anything to do with money, buying, selling, donating, anything over the internet.

and yet i've several times received a number of such notices from amazon and elsewhere.

what i highly susplect are fiscers, spoofing, and thus strongly suggest not responding.

i mean if you get a notice from someplace you've never been, about something totally wtf,

that sure looks like a big fat red flag "scammers at work".

I remember how Wal-Mart did this to small towns in the 80s. They came in. Opened a huge store, hired a lot of locals whom they didn't call employees (they were addressed as "associates" to delegitimize their positions as anything other than working serfs). At first their claim to fame was selling "American-Made" goods. Most of which were "assembled" in the US using cheap Chinese parts (the Tandy computer model).

Here's the thing though. Sam Walton was ambitious, but he was handed a semi-failing chain of small town stores called the Ben Franklin stores. Small towns bled him dry. They came up with every possible excuse to hit his bottom line. They charged more for utilities, police services (for shoplifting assholes) and even jacked up the business permit rates on a routine basis. Why? Because it was an out of state cash cow.

Wal-Mart was his revenge on small-minded small town America. And it worked. All kinds of small businesses closed down. Then came Sam's Club where even more were priced out of existence. The formula infected local governments even more as they saw ANY business as a cash cow. They expected Wal-Mart revenue from 50 seat restaurants and 2 pump gas stations.

What really sucks is that voting with our wallets is now a thing of the past because competition is gone. But this has all happened before.

Those are going away too. We'll be cashless sooner that I ever dreamed possible. I carry about $40 to remind me that it still exists, but I do most of my shopping with plastic. And a good deal of that online. I can only imagine how it's going to be for panhandlers, drug dealers and hookers!
