Which version of Midnight At The Oasis are we talking about? The 1974 Maria Muldaur version or the 1994 Brand New Heavies version?

I've never heard the original song, but I don't see how anyone could find the Brand New Heavies' version annoying. What is there to dislike about it?

 

I'm talking about the original by Maria Muldaur. Haven't heard the new one yet, and to be honest I don't know if I would like it because I can't stand the lyrics to that song, though I will listen to the new one to see.

i absolutely CANNOT stand that song by...i think his name is eamon or something? the "i don't want you back" song, whose title is actually "fuck it". example lyrics: "fuck you you ho, i dont want you back" and "fuck what i said, it don't mean shit now".....it's set to a slow, melodic beat..and is somehow considered a love song?! grrrr i hate hate hate that song!

 

Hmmm that song and video by the Darkness is just horrible. And that song that keeps saying YEAH YEAH YeAh over and over again....it drives me nuts.

Celtic, there's no new version of Midnight At the Oasis. The version I know came out ten years ago. It got to number 13 in the UK charts.

I don't think many people are familiar with the original song. It's 30 years old and it only got to number 21 in the UK charts.
