Anything by "The Cars". They must be the lamest, dumbest, most idiotic group producing some of the worst music to get radio play in popular music. As long as I'm checking out, I might as well have a good reason to accelerate my departure. In which case my last words would be: "Ah shit...I'm outta here!"
I'd die listening to Progenies of the Great Apocolypse by Dimmu Borgir. That'd be sweet. Or maybe anything by Porcupine Tree.
Good thread idea! Kinda depressing, but cool. I liked a lot of everyone's picks, especially the Cat Stevens and Pink Floyd (and yeah, "us and them" is a really moving song). But DMB's "Two Step" has always had that 'sweet sadness' feel to it for me, it would have to be what I'd want to listen to, being one of my favorite songs and somewhat relevent...and it'd have to be a live version for the jams. Two Step Say, my love, I came to you with best intentions You laid down and gave to me just what I'm seeking Love, you drive me to distraction Hey my love do you believe that we might last a thousand years Or more if not for this, our flesh and blood It ties you and me right up Tie me down Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We're climbing two by two To be sure these days continue These things we cannot change Hey, my love, you came to me like wine comes to this mouth Grown tired of water all the time You quench my heart and love, you quench my mind Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We're climbing two by two To be sure these days continue The things we cannot Celebrate, you and me, climbing two by two, to be sure these days continue, things we cannot change Oh, my love I came to you with best intentions You laid down and gave to me just what I'm seeking Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We're climbing two by two To be sure these days continue Things we cannot change... Things we cannot change
"In My Grave" by Choking Victim All the times that were good or bad, and the thought of a future that I never had. With the promise of heaven, and the threat of a hell... A reality I did dwell. And I did thrive on apathy, and ignorance taught me the way it should be. All along, all the lies I was fed, would reassure I'd rather be dead. All will die with thier memories, little lives of misery. Thirst for power = starve for pain. All your money goes down the drain. Like your life in your grave, none of the power or the money is saved. And you will die in your pain, as all of it goes down the drain. Now I'm dead to no dismay, my body reeks, my flesh decays! All is gone now, the hate and the pain, reality down the drain. And I will rot in my grave, and I will see that nobody is saved. All is gone now, the hate and the pain, all of it, gone down the drain. In my grave... no one's saved... no more pain... in my grave.
Beastie boys - instant death. now i know you are thinking: "a Beastie Boys song to die to?" But, hey, listen to it first.
"Queen Jane Approximately" - Bob Dylan My, I can't think about that really, there's too many to pick.
I don't know, may be Magna Carta - Lord of the ages. It's 15 minutes long, it's calm, but halfway it is gonna swing as well. 'And so the lord of the ages ...gathered in his harvest.'
