I think that the concent age should be at least 16, but then again I know quite a few 16 year olds that shouldn't dress themselves, much less have sex! I think at 16 you are starting to mature, and at least at 16 if you fuck up, you can work at McDonalds to support a baby. Honestly I think the age of concent should be 18.
The age of consent is to protect young kids from being persuaded into things by older people. I started going out with my boyfriend just before I turned 15 and just before he was 16, so the first year we had sex illegally until I turned 16. I think 16 is a good age. Of course everyone is different and matures differently but you cant have 12 year olds sleeping with 22 year olds, I cant think of anyone who would say thats ok. But a 16 year old and a 22 year old? Well thats deffinatly better.
18 RE: Yea, there is a rule here too. If you have sex with a minor, you become a sex offender. Automatically people think your a child molester. Er, if you have sex with a minor, you ARE a child molester.
Mmm... Better, but still pretty horrible. I was 17 with a 23 year old, and I still think he's a pervert! I mean, I'm 23 now, and I can't imagine tyring to get a 16 or 17 year old in my bed... In my case anyway, I think that he just couldn't get anyone his own age or maturity level to put up with his bullshit...
Maybe there should be a test... if you can't even spell CONSENT!!! then how can you be expected to do what it stands for? If they are still watching teletubbies... too young! If they know any of the power ranger names... too young! If they think Britney Spears can sing... too young! If their idea of makeup is eye glitter... too young! If they think sex is giving a BJ in the back of a car... too young! If sally told billy that cherie told mikey that donna cheated on davey... too young! If you buy tickets for a movie and the cashier asks "One adult and one child?"... too young! If the waiter at a restaraunt hands them a childs menu... too young! If their favorite car is chitty chitty bang bang... too young! When you get in line for a rollercoaster and they don't meet the height requirements... too young! When you slam the brakes on in the car and place your hand across their chest to protect them... too young! If they say "are we there yet" more then once during a road trip... too young! If their idea of real competition is TripleH vs TheRock... too young!
i think it should be 18. or even over that.... people are having sex too early these days. you have the rest of you life to have sex, no need to have it in junior high
16 seems about right, but i think the sex offender label should only be used for those who go after 12 and younger. there are 14 yearolds who are definately mature enough to have that relationship, but there are those who arent, so you have to set the ager higher. as with everything in life, its not black and white, and there is no magic number.
Thanks for making that point. I think a lot of people missed that. But it's also there to protect people from themselves. Keeping yourself safe from STD's and not getting pregnant/ not getting someone pregnant are pretty big things. I'd say 16 is a fair age to burden yourself with all that.
The age of consent should be after completion of a sex ed course. Oh wait, the way schools are now, no one would ever been having sex!
well. it's 14 in tennessee. and I agree with whoever it was who said that a high school freshman is a decent age.
I can accept that argument ONLY if a 16-year-old is in a relationship with someone in his or her own age group (plus or minus a year). Otherwise, it's no different than that of NAMBLA. You'll never convince me that a relationship between a teenager and an adult who's old enough to be his or her parent (or worse, grandparent) is consensual. It's a good argument, but it fails to take into account the reality of pedophile preadators. Again, it's one thing for teenagers to be sexually involved with each other and are mature enough to deal with the legal and societal consequences. But let's get real here: Most of those who are pushing hard for ending age-of-consent laws are adult pedophiles. NAMBLA has been doing this for over 20 years. And their arguments are nothing but politically-correct gobbledygook. If you're in your late teens, would YOU want to be in a relationship with someone who's old enough to be your parent? -- Skeeter
Well i think if you feel like doing it and you want to do it and you feel ok with it . It's ok and i don't have any problem with that .
actually i believe it's 16 in arkansas... and it's not 13 anywhere. i found this little chart thing online that tells the ages of consent in all the states..
I'm older now, but I always thought that it should be about 16. Despite what others might say, girls are already smart and more 'adult' by 16 then the guys
here is sixteen, sex should be a choice by whoever makes it at whaever time but I think yes thirteen is too young, to make a correctly informed and ballanced decision
