Well...I meet lot's of people anyway. Honestly, I meet a lot more people than I really want to meet. It's part of both of my jobs. So I end up having to put on this "face" which I realize is just part of it. But what's really cool is that some of those people are awesome and I've been lucky enough to gain some great friendships with them outside of work. That means something to me because I'm the kind of person who knows a shitload of people (and a lot of people know who I am) but I have only a few people who I really consider my friends...who really know me. So when I gain a great friend like the guy I was thinking of when I started this thread...I feel pretty lucky.

 

If I ever go to his house, I'm going to spend some time unfucking those widow-maker trees that he has been dealing with for a while.

I have been in the public eye ever since I remember.

 

I was just thinking about this after I posted that. I think a good line in the sand is....there are many people who think they know you and love you because of their impression of you but everyone has problems and issues. Your real friends know what those issues are and are still your friends. I have my share of issues....like anyone else. But it's so funny that you can meet people in the strangest places and become such good friends if you just lower your level of judgement. But for me, it's a fine line between showing my "public" self and my "private" self. I know I have to be careful because screwing up can cost me a lot.
