    Rebellion.
The ability to question accepted authority.
    Basics of economic theory.
    Philosophy and formal logic.

Home ec shouldn't be replaced, but it should be revamped.. so many kids don't even have basic cooking skills.

I hate Math, but I still think its more important than Philosophy. If Math doesn't exercise your brain, what does ?

Yes. chemistry should become a combination of synthesis, psychopharmacology, biochemistry and entheogenic studies.

With practical experiments of course ;)

    I support these 100%.

The younger years here have a class called "life". I don't know quite what they're teaching but I'm guessing it's a bit like PSHCE, which includes stuff about drugs, sex, bit of careers and all that stuff. I have careers too, but not everyone gets that. Also, we have all the questioning stuff in RE like why is there suffering and shit like that.

I'm not sure what subject should be taught, I think instead of getting a new one we should get better teaching on the subjects we already have.

In order to groom one for the corporate world I suggest contortion be added to phys-ed in order that they may more easily get their head in and out of their ass.

you have to explain "life" to us but assume we understand "PSHCE?"

we had "life skills" in 7th grade. i have no idea what was taught because i was too busy the whole time defacing my book or just being generally disruptive. the teacher let me know years later that she assumed i was stupid at the time.

i must have missed raven's post, but when i took a semester of cooking as a senior, we never made a single practical dish that anyone in the class would ever actually make again, and i still feel confident to say that i'm completely unable to cook.

Chemistry ? Whats wrong with chemistry ? Chemistry is beautiful and makes perfect sense.

But hey, lets remove Math and Chemistry and all science and focus on philosophy and psychology, so we can discuss things for hours and hours, without actually saying much.

Math, Chemistry, Psychology, Philosophy....Its all obligatory here. And I'd like to keep it that way.

I never had psychology or philosophy.

I have a problem with chemistry, those equations look so ridiculous and dry to me, maybe it's me but I find that stuff pretty damn useless these days. It was interesting at first when we were taught about the ingredients of various things and did lab work but now it's just 5 pages of shit every damn lesson.

Not all math.. I'd keep basic math, up until the 7th or 8th grade or so.

But hey, the school system needs vast changing anyway, this is nitpicking.

Aren't you studying philosophy ? You like it, you can't be objective.
    Philosophy didn't help me much.

Then why do you think education should focus more on those subjects ? Trust me, they're not really that interesting.

Well, my school doesn't have it, I have friends in other schools who do and from what they've told me, it's a lot more interesting (and to me, more important) than most of the other subjects.

Okay, philosophy is kinda cool. But I hate psychology. But everyone thinks its oh so cool....Every single person wants to study it. Its crazy.
I appreciate science because it requires thinking and connecting things. Just like Latin. We also had Logic, but it was sooooo boring.
