My favorite style would be 60s rock, like the Stones, the Who, the Beatles, etc. Then that would be followed by 50s rock and 70s rock/pop and 80s pop! But I truly like ALL music.
I would say that I'm most prone to the old post-punk/gothic rock bands but I tend to go for something with a dark or otherworldly aura in general. I don't pay much attention to genres/scenes though as I all I care about is good music. I do appreciate a variety though. Lately, I've been listening to more jazz, psych rock, industrial and experimental music. I was pretty big into metal during my teen years and some of that still stands.
I don't like what passes for hip hop sometimes. I do like "hello nasty" by the beastie boys. In my car: Beastie Boys "Hello Nasty" The Smashing Pumpkins "Adore" The Smashing Pumpkins "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" Robert Miles "Dreamland" Aria "Aria 2: New Horizon" That's it. I guess you can see I have an affinity for The Smashing Pumpkins. I can't believe there's no "Siamese Dream" as it's arguably their best album!
At the moment I am listening to a lot of Hawkwind,English space rock pioneers.I find their prophetic lyrics and dense otherworldly experimentation within the Rock genre very satisfying.
