What kind of leader are you?

i would think so, for sure. men and women are very different sorts of animals. there are a percentage that cross the sexual boundaries, but mostly, yeah, we're very different in how we function on a basic level.

 

I don't fit any either. I'm a very laissez faire leader. I'm a firm believer that as a leader I can tell you what to do or I can tell you how to do it, but if I have to tell you both you've become a liability.

And I have to fire people about twice a year. Too many young people in my business either have no work ethic, have no sense of quality or are too dumb to know you don't get high/show up drunk or on opiates and then try to operate power tools or heavy equipment. I have no problem with people who drink or do drugs as long as they don't have a problem losing a thumb or a foot here and there.

 

KC, if I were to base some of the silly essays I wrote in University on that apparently unapparent observation then I'd fail.

Not to say that you're wrong or that I disagree, but that more of the people with Ph.D's don't preach it.

What a fucked up place. Its tough to even suggest that there is such a thing as a male and female brain. I mean tough in the sense that you can't really get a grant if thats a principle you hold. Or in and or around that realm of life.

 

i agree. i totally do. but you can't get far disaggreeing with the pc. i remember a lot of the girls i was in geography with dropping this particular teacher's class because he said a very low percentage of women could see the 3d style mapping (through a special glass) like men did. well, SHIT, we were in fact evolving for different, very valid tasks. very important tasks. it's not sexist to say "you might not get this because your head is built different than a man's." pfft. yes, it IS. we're a team, male and female (physically or mentally). my mother? INCREDIBLY masculine. my father? masculine and excells in the feminine. he's a bit of a bitch, really.

but you know, i'm awesomely grateful for my family. i grew up without forced sexual roles. i know where i'm good, where i'm not so good, and i know it's not something that was forced upon me. i think that was the actual point of feminism. some women will actually be better than most men at masculine pursuits and have something valuable to offer. don't ignore it. it's just the availabilty to show it. my mother would likely be the president had the world she lived in not worked against her. me? i just wanted to be a mom and wife. i can choose, and i can't blame anyone should a choice have a downside.

Women and men lead differently. I don't know many who employ even closely similar tactics in their every day approach to leading. I think both bring something that is needed to the table and any smart employer I think would have a good balance of male to female in leadership for that reason. You can't please 'em all. Atleast not with one bag of tricks.

 

Yeah. I've seen you type that there is a small similarity between men and women when we're all put on a scale together a few times. I remember reading that in some book. I think it was a Pinker book. Something like if we listed all the characteristics of every female and every male on the planet on a chart you'd not be able to tell what is a female and male characteristic because there are always a few that have some males and females that have traditionally opposite sexed characteristics.

Its kind of shitty though, that our cultural constraints create those downsides to choosing what we want to do, regardless of male or female. As you said, right. There has to be a few men out there that want nothing more than to live the life of a stay-at-home dad. Which is not a culturally accepted thing. So in the same breath that those idiot teachers and professors are trying to 'free' men from the physically determined characteristics that might be a fact of life are creating just as damaging culturally created characteristics that actually take away more from our everyday desires and happiness than the stuff they teach against.

If only they were hippies.

 

yeah, i'm not a big fan of socially dictated roles. i'm aslo not very sympathetic of anyone, male or female. who allow their lives to be dictated by those societal rules.

I find it interesting that nobody considered themselves a 'non-leader' but 7 people disagreed with my selections and had no suggestion as to what kind of leader they consider themselves to be.

This leads me to believe that 7 people are actually non-leaders and do not realize. Though I could be wrong.

i want the man meat for sure. but, yeah, i lead or follow depending on the situation. i mean, honestly, what kind of leader doesn't recognize someone who'd be better in a situation than they themselves, would be?
