i have a buddy that did a lot of martial arts, and apparently there's a "chi" (energy stuff from eastern religions) aspect to it. i dunno though. if the specific brand of martial arts didn't have any sort of noncatholic spiritual aspect, i don't see why the church would be against it. catholics don't take religion as seriously in america, i guess. 'cause the buddy i'm talking about is catholic and was in a catholic high school at the time. i don't know too many catholics that would be opposed to doing yoga either. it's mainly the born again christians (not to mention the mormons/mennonites/amish/etc) that are orthodox like that here.
Mormons and that sort of people freak me out. They are extremely aggressive and drastic and considered a cult, a sect. But I agree that Catholics here and in the USA are very much different.
it's kinda fun to suck at it, though.. I'm not too good either.. but if I'm gonna play with someone I'd rather we take it lightly and laugh than be all concentrated and serious and competitive.. although.. I get a little competitive sometimes too.. well I get competitive at air hockey. But that's not a sport is it? haha
For someone who thinks he's so much more open minded and free spirited you sure fail to accept that there are people who are completely different than you and follow certain rules and lead different lifestyles. And even more ! They find happiness and peace in these things. So live and let live :cheers2: And please do not get offended, I am only saying all this because you seem to quote me on many things I say here just to show your disapproval.
I understand that they do but I'm always critical when it comes to religion. Not being able to do yoga because a priest says so is such an incredible long-shot that I can't fathom it.
i've been thinking about joining this mma club in my town recently. it's got a boxing gym sort of setup, rather than the belt/gi thing, which is kinda cool. i dunno if i'll actually do it though. i've been talking about it for like 4 years now. lol judo's definitely sweet though. the light heavyweight ufc champion uses a lot of judo in his fights. meh, i don't really have a problem with any religious group. to each his own. they might get shitty with you for not following their beliefs or whatnot (never happened to me), but in the end, they're just trying to save your soul. lol
i love running... not like on a street or any flat ground it has to be on a hiking trail.. like with lots of obsticals and streams to jump and stuff like that to keep my mind going... as to not get bored. its gives me a crazy rush i prefer a running over weed anyday.
