I lived in a small town in NY state in the '70s where there were nothing but crap jobs. I was a dishwasher, a factory machine operator, a gas station attendant, an apartment maintenance man... None of them paid worth a damn. I did get some good skills from doing apartment maintenance, though. I learned some construction skills that have benefited me throughout my life. So, what did you do back in the '70s (or '60s or '80s)?
Dockworker loading and unloading trucks. Then I got into the biggest Yamaha motorcycle dealership in the state during the summer mouths as a shop rat. I delivered bikes, refurbished trade ins, built custom 650's by adding extended front ends, sissy bars, Z-bars, etc. changed tires, all that stuff. Wild place, everybody was having a good time. We'd get high going to, during, and after work every day. Ever try to rewire a bike when you're stoned?
'76 to '79 I worked as a directory assistance operator for our phone company,in '79 I started a chef apprenticeship. Cheers Paul
In 1970 I was an Air Force Combat Control Ssgt. 1973 I got out and was a cop for two years. In 1975 I got into the car business and went through the ranks as a new and used car salesman, finance manager and then sales manager. That, pretty much was my 70's.
I was a forester for the US Forest Service in Wisconsin and the Ozarks. Setting up timber sales, managing tree planting operations and doing field recon of forested areas. In Wisconsin in was the end a very abnormal cold period. We were on snow shoes from Nov. to April and wore out a pair of them per year.
I was a dam builder, across the river deep and wide, where steel and water did collide. A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado. I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below. They buried me in that grey tomb that knows no sound, but I am still around, I will always be around.
That Would Go A Long Way Toward Explaining Why The USA Took A Sharp Turn For The Worse Back Then..... Cheers Glen.
