Also, what are you currently wearing? Pictures are welcomed. I don't anything. I just wash my hands and nails. Then apply a base coat, the nail polish of my choice, and then a top coat. Currently, I'm wearing three different nail polishes, all from Zoya. All three are on my fingernails. The three nail polishes are called Amy, Faye, and Giovanna. I'm not wearing anything on my toes.
I keep them filed short, cant stand long nails. I use one of those multi sided files that buffs, shines, etc. Then I apply almond oil to the cuticle, then two coats of color and one coat of gel top coat. I really like neutral coloes right now, browns and nudes and what not I just trim and paint my toenails every couple of months, they grow slow and the paint never chips. I have this weird thing about my toenails being touched, it grosses me out.so I never get professional pedicures or anything
Apparently, using those 2 or 4-sided buffers are bad for your nails because it weakens and breaks them. And my nails grow fast, but I... too prefer short nails. Long nails kind of look creepy and whenever I see someone on Youtube with long nails, their nails are in really bad shape. For example, they're yellowed, brittled, etc. I don't see the point in having long nails if they're not in good condition. Yea, you can paint over them, and no one will be the wiser. But, still. I get so ticklish whenever I get my toes done by a professional. I actually tell the person to skip that part.
I keep mine short as I type a lot work and wear contacts. Plus, I cook a lot and take it pretty seriously. Long nails just aren't for me or my lifestyle, but I have a nail kit, all kinds of polish, hand and foot masks, that file thingy for the dead skin on your feet, and, of course, a footbath, so I don't go out for manis or pedis. I just do them at home, usually with a glass of wine and a PWHL game EDIT: oh yeah, wearing some magenta Sally Hansen cheapo nail polish and a Maybelline top coat
I've recently found something I like to do. Nail art and care. I researched a lot. I use acetone free nail polish remover. Then I file/shape/smooth the edges and leave cuticle oil to soak on my nails to try to make them better or rehydrate them a bit before painting again. Then after that, I do cuticle care (pushing, never cutting) after the oil I put on softens the cuticles. Then quick wipes of each nail with the polish remover to get extra oil off. Then I do a base coat. Then, either 2 to 3 coats of the color, depending on how sheer it is. Then, a top coat. After that is all dry, I use toothpicks dipped in my gentle nail polish remover to clean up the edges and make them look neat. Then the last thing I do is put cuticle oil on my nails/cuticles, tips of the nails, and the skin around the nails. I didn't know anything about cuticle care or how skin care fits into nail care until I read a lot about it. My manicures and pedicures look neat and shiny now, and my nails are strong, for the first time in my life.
