yah i only had so many choices...In this poll I see eastern europe as south eastern europe and north eastern europe (which is maybe where your country is) as well...and western europe i include south western europe and north western europe (where your country could be as well)..so it depends if its north western or north eastern europe. i split it two ways instead of four, thats all.

Hmm...Netherlands, France, Germany, North America...thats all I got :D Netherlands because I love their attitudes towards issues such as gay rights, I would feel very comfortable there, France and Germany because of their artistic history/culture and such, and North America because I've been here my whole life and have come to like it...even with its cultural flaws.

Ideally, I wouldn't live anywhere and would always be on the move seeing the world.

How stupid of you people is not to include U.S.A or noth america. it is where most of intellegence of the world comes... no matter what their policy is the world, it is the only country where peopel can enjoy life most and like no one ever enjoyed. Future is after america and all globalized progressing countries etc. Europe, eastern is catchign up, Japan.

Sure....if the government doesn't put you in jail for doing it......not much enjoyable about that....I think you've entirely missed the point of this thread....

New Zealand for me...yes I live in NZ now and yes I want to travel but my roots are here - I love the people and the scenery...I can even tolerate the government.

to both the topic question and the poll question (which are two different questions entirely) i would have to say the immaginary one inside my head.

of course it would be a temperate rather then tropical or arctic regeon of the planet. but the important thing is mountains and forrests and nonchauvanistic attitudes of people living there, not opposed to tecnologies and infrastructures based on them that are harmonious with nature, but not putting trying to impress each other ahead of the qualities of shared experience of everyone living there or anywhere.

someplace with no economic, idiological, nor religeous prejudices. well like i said, the immaginary country inside my head. i like the trains, shinto, and gardens of japan, also the anime, but like every real place i don't doubt but what it has its downside to. not the lest of which being i can't see any reason they'd welcome me and plenty of good reasons not to welcome immigration from this u.s. of a. i was born in and have lived all my life in so far.

new zealand is pretty what i've seen of it in pictures so far. with mountains and trees.
switzerland with it's narrow gauge trains. and nepal, just because it's an odd little and VERY out of the way sort of place.

none of them entirely qualify, each for its own of various reasons. likewise where i'm living now does not entirely. at least not the government nor the dominant beliefs of the dominant society. but the trees and mountains are fine. as trees and mountains and little furry creatures with big sharp teeth that live in them everywhere.

it's what us humans do to a place to screw it up for each other that i'd rather live somewhere else then. and there probably isn't any place we haven't come up with some way of doing so. it's just nice we haven't done it exactly the same way in every place. at least that's something anyway.

also i think, well no place stays eternaly the same either, well no place where there is life, like the surface of a planet that supports it, like our own.
and since the diversity of reality is totaly unbiased as to whether and what gets better and worse, conceivably there may be places nearer my heart's desire somewhere on this planet sometime in its future.

I am older than most of you. I've given it some thought. New Mexico and Italy are top on my list. But I don't think place can really replace self. I was just looking for a place without frost. I would accept frost before I accepted the relinquishment of civil rights. I don't care how warm the climate was.

@ anyone wanting to live in a snow-riddled part of Earth:

You're shittin' me...somewhere up THAT far above (or below) the equator?!?! Too fuckin' cold. Give me somewhere in Southeastern Asia...or Africa...or anywhere in South American. :) And as for relinquishment of civil rights; It sucks...but you're going to find that everywhere...at least a little of it.

Done months of research. Feelin' pretty sure things are goin' nowhere but to hell here. Relatively serious about this if at all possible. I want to live in the Andes Mountains, way off the beaten path, on a small farm with the poor farmers for neighbors, and work the land with oxen, travel by mule or bicycle, use solar for electric, learn Spanish. Maybe grow some coffee. The farther away from modern contrivances, spoiled elite snobs, and nose up yer butt police the better. Found a little spot in Venezuela that looks real promising. Somewhat near a college town. They use words like "bohemian", and "eclectic" to describe the place. Full of artists, musicians, poets, etc. All nationalities. AND I think I like Chavez. Anybody who has the balls to publicly call George the devil is ok by me...
