One-quarter Hispanic, the rest British/French. I love learning about my heritage. My grandmother Rosalinda was an exchange student in California when she met my grandfather. When she went back home to the Yucatan, he followed her, and married her there after convincing her father that he was a good man. My other grandmother Marie was a ferry pilot during WWII. She flew fighter planes across the Atlantic to deliver them for the Air Force. She met her husband in a London pub.
I remember when I was a kid, I asked my older brother what our heritage was, he said, "Heintz 57." I know more about my mother's side of the family than I do about my father's. My mother's father was Scottish and her mother was Irish. All I know about my father is that he was a mix of English, Irish, Welsh and Hebrew. The Hebrew heritage is the most interesting. This was the "family secret." Before my mom died, she told me that my father's father was Jewish. This Jewish man owned the local Jewish meat market in Dorchester (working class Boston neighborhood) and got my father's mother pregnant (probably when she was there to buy some pork - oh I forgot, that's not kosher). My father was raised by his aunt (for obvious reasons - he was an illicit child). My mother told me that my father would go to his Jewish father's house and confront him from time to time. His real father would have nothing to do with him. Sad story. I never got to meet my real grandpa. So, I'm part: English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Jewish. I consider myself as Irish, only because when my dad was mad at my mother he would say, "kiss my Irish ass!"
Officially I'm a Canadian. Born and raised here and I'm 4th gen. So really all my heritage for the past 60+ years is all Canadian. However strictly speaking, I'd be Croatian. (ironically enough though I still support them in international football...and given the chance I'd move there also.)
same! i always feel geeky asking, but hey i have done alot of research on my family tree and i have found that i am mostly english, 10% scottish, 1/16th irish, 1/16th welsh, some french, some swedish, some dutch, some german, and 10% sub saharan african (some of my english ancestors were slave owners in the west indies so im guessing there was some mixing.) blessings xxx
Damn! Where's "French" in the choices? It hurts a bit to see that French isn't there considering that an important part of the North American history has been "written" by the French.
French/English. I would say i'm more french than english though. I just feel more french if that makes any sense lol.
