I like busses but not in the U.S greyhound sucks!!
I like not having to worry about car problems.
Skip, you forgot to mention hitchhikiing in your survey, unless someone else mentioned it, I didn't read the whole thread.
Car, train or foot. Depends on the distance.
through time and space.
I like to travel by car because it gives you a chance to pull over and see something that you like and take pictures of, and you can leave or stay as long as you want
If I have to cover long distances, an airplane would suffice.
But if it's a road trip, then a vehicle with friends would suffice.
And trains are always fun!
Feet, train, bus. In that order...
Depends on my destination.........
Airplanes do when I'm heading overseas. Traveling within my continent..........car is the way to go if I have the time.
Traveling around a new city? By foot, if it is feasible, or an auto driven by a local who can help give you tips and fill you in.
well, I do like to walk.
but the most i've ever walked is about 50 miles in one day.
anything more than that and it's greyhound for me
you meet the scum of the earth on a cross-country greyhound,
and that's just the place for me!
done a good bit of hitching. it's more intimate, which is nice,
but it lacks the air of pure filth that you expect when you board a bus.
trains I'm not really into.
I'll hop on the mbta in and arund boston, but that's really it
By boat is cool but as a general rule cruise ships suck balls...actually they just make me feel gross, like Im "one of those people" who goes on cruises. But being out in the middle of the Ocean is pretty exciting, especially when the cruise ship is run by the mafia. Fun stuff.
Road trips are the shit, but not my favorite because rarely do they take you out of the country (except into mexico)
So far my best travel experience has been by train around Europe. But someday I hope to traverse the amazon via jungle boat and then Im sure that will be my fav.
Totally agree, Bone: boats are great; cruise ships suck. (Not that I've ever been on one.)
When I'm in a new place and exploring, it's walking by far...I love walking. You know what's, like, the best thing in the world? Waking up in a new city and saying "Okay, let's go get lost all day long!" Twelve hours later you stumble back into your hotel room tired and aching and probably a little drunk and you really feel like you've...if not really gotten to know the city, at least had a really interesting conversation with it.
I also just read a little in a travel magazine about boat trips down the Amazon and it sounded so awesome it made me ache a little.
lets go im down when you are
I made 3 Atlantic crossings West to East and four trips through the Mediterranean Sea all on a "Boat" 425 feet six inches long and 33 feet wide. Did not get to see much and some of the trips were very interesting and exciting. I would do it again in a heart beat.
Oh, this was a Nuclear Powered Submarine.
Being a newly licensed driver )) I do have to mention that there is some kind of freedom that comes with taking your own car. You're completely in control of your destination and it does taste pretty sweet.
On foot. Nothing beats walking and taking your time enjoying the sights.
I could ride around the world on a greyhound bus, that would be fine with me. Of course I prefer bus travel in Mexicne driver sleeps under the bus while the other drives and they keep right on rockin down the highway. The peeps are so nice in MX, but hardto understand if you don't speak spanish.
motorbike and sidecar hmmm not in options humph
but if i really had a choice and the money i'd live on a narrow boat
by car. it's the most comfortable.
