ger, you said it yourself, the problem with pot is that there aren't enough medical studies to back up either claim. That being said, nobody really knows the effects on the child. These people that have kids without brain defects and without crazy mutations may not see the small things that exposure to cannabis may have had on the child. It may not even be something noticeable, it may only be a problem with memory or mental development that may not be noticeable at first or at all, but something like this could affect the baby in a way you can't see. Nobody really knows for sure if it will hurt the baby or if it won't.

But then again, There hasn't been any clinical studies that test whether falling down stairs while pregnant affects the child simply because it should be common sense. Nobody's going to hold those types of studies becasue it's retarded. Just like smoking while pregnant. fucking retarded. People should know better.

Me and my sons mom smoked occasionaly when she was pregnant, probably once a week or more, and my son is extremely smart, healthy, and he was a fat buddha baby too. So I dont think it causes any problems as long as you dont go overboard. Also, my mom, her mom, and several other peoples parents I know admitted to smoking during pregnancy.

There are tons of studies done on the effect of drugs including pot on babies. I just posted a few abstracts I can post many many more. There is significant proof that marijuana causes birth defects and health problems in children and babies.

I'm a guy. :) Guys can be concerned too.
The first abstract sums up by saying "It was not possible to determine whether cocaine and marijuana have independent effects, since use of the two drugs was materially correlated"
Does that mean that they can't tell which drug caused the rms?
English is such a f&^*ed up language...
The second abstract sums it up best "Further studies are needed to elucidate this association."
The third abstract was put out by the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation. That should tell you the 'study' is going to be biased. Then if you remove all the greek, it reads "Periconceptional maternal use of cocaine ..., amphetamines/speed ..., or preconceptional use of alcohol as <1 drink/day ..., or ≥1 drink/day ..., or ≥1 drink/day ... did not increase the risk for delivering NTD-affected offspring". Thus making the whole study and paper worthless.
    More study is needed indeed.

    http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/

"MYTH: MARIJUANA USE DURING PREGNANCY DAMAGES THE FETUS. Prenatal marijuana exposure causes birth defects in babies, and, as they grow older, developmental problems. The health and well being of the next generation is threatened by marijuana use by pregnant women.

FACT: Studies of newborns, infants, and children show no consistent physical, developmental, or cognitive deficits related to prenatal marijuana exposure. Marijuana had no reliable impact on birth size, length of gestation, neurological development, or the occurrence of physical abnormalities. The administration of hundreds of tests to older children has revealed only minor differences between offspring of marijuana users and nonusers, and some are positive rather than negative. Two unconfirmed case-control studies identified prenatal marijuana exposure as one of many factors statistically associated with childhood cancer. Given other available evidence, it is highly unlikely that marijuana causes cancer in children."
