uhh I think you're missing the point of what he was saying. I think he was implying you can still practice some rasta practices without giving yourself the title of "rasta" He didn't say to be rasta you had to do those things. He was just implying that it is silly to categorize yourself. Correct me if I interpreted that wrong NP
you are right. but, i am one for the argument that zilla made. i am rasta. you non-rasta cannot tell me that i can't be or am not rasta.
And vigilante, what is it you believe in exactly? Like what higher power or whatever it is that being rasta is based around
jah is a a higher power within all of us. that is what i believe. i don't like to anthropmorphize the universal energy which connects us all. and yes, rastas believe this. some of us are ore advanced than others.
it's just a name. like i said, it's the divine energy that connects us all, and is within us waiting to be discovered.
peeps dont be giving me credit. im an educated person and a knowledge seeker. i just choose to act like an ass. :cheers2: by calling it 'jah' and making a list of the things that 'jah' wants people to do and calling it a religion, you are in fact anthropomorphising (spelling?..kinda drunk haha). jah is shortened for jahovah (YHVH), the jealous jew-god who kills pagans and homosexuals. if thats not anthropomorphic i dont know what is more advanced? i mean, im only a level two but if i met a level 6, id be blown away by their wisdom praise ja :cheers2: O and yea you got it right pat. no need to label yourself this way if you dont intend to follow what it stands for. if you do want to worship selassie and go live in ethiopia, more power to ya. turn off your computer, throw away your salt, call yourself a rasta.
you and i both know that i never said i knew everything. i simply said i wasnt ignorant. knowledge can fall in between the extremes of being completely oblivious and knowing everything. not everything has to be absolute. but i'm sure you just wanted to be the typical jerk of the day. instigating as often as possible.
yet you brag about how much you know... as if... if you cant figure out what the flag means, go check your textbooks college boy im sure its in there under 'b' for black superiority religions
the only reason i even state such things is because people typically refute whatever it is i have to say. usually its because they're a hater. kinda like you. its all good in the hood though.
i never made a list of what jah wants me to do, nor did call it a religion. you are correct. jah is shortened for jehovah. i just like the name really.
I dont call myself a Rasta. Some of their principles are definitely worth learning from in my opinion. What's wrong with partly agreeing with them? Positive attitude is good. Loving God[Jah] is great! Trying to bond with him, also great! Trying to have pure livity, another great thing. Afrocentrism and H.I.M. beliefs are mainly the only things I dont agree with. This doesnt mean that taking the positive aspects out of Rasta is a bad thing at all. They have great lessons to learn.
but thats what religion is. that is what rastafarI is. you do still call yourself a rastafarian don't you?
like i have said from the beginning. rasta is way of life for me, not a religion. that is the fundamental difference between what you are talking about and what i am talking about.
