Everything you just said carries a fair bit of weight in me. I suppose the reason why I asked the question "why don't we do it better?" is because it confuses me that in a universe where we are physically disposed towards a type of humanism and where those limits do not hold us back, we are free to create life as we please, we have chosen to create a mechanistic, inhuman, heirachical, power-based society that stifles every thing good that can come from living. And yes, I totally agree that we have complicated things, and removed ourselves from a more natural, "organic" way of life in which we can flow with our surroundings, which to me would be a very "meaningful" way of life. I often feel like I will bust if I can't know something that I feel I should know or if I can't be instantly transported to a place where things only make about as much sense as they exist. I am kind of lost for words now. I don't really understand this strange creation and I can't shake the feeling that it is somewhat of a sick joke.
Yeah, exactly. We can always go back to more natural ways of living - even if we've never experienced it at all. I mean, the depletion of rural communities is spiking and crashing the farming industries. Not to mention the commercialization of piece rate work and labour market crunches. More people live in either a suburban or an urban center environment now than ever before and more than any people in rural communities. Anyway, it's never too late.
It is difficult though. I certainly have my own, almost impassable obstacles. But I won't go into it. At the end of the day, even if most of my life is spent drudging away for no reason, I am more often happy than I am sad or desperate. There is always something wonderful to be absorbed in, even if it isn't the point, even if there isn't any point.
The point of life, to me, is to enjoy it and have fun. It is a truly beautiful, wonderful experience. I am highly aware that it will inevitably end, which makes it a lot easier for me to let go, not worry so much, and just enjoy it. As for death, I believe life is a dream and death the awakening.
The point of living differs per living creature. If you don't see any point of your life you should look for it. It can be just to enjoy your life, for others it may be to be an example to others or to achieve personal enlightenment. If you're lucky you can decide for yourself :cheers2:
I'd kind of argue the point of living is the same as the point of why there is a universe. And i think the answer to why is in what the universe is, which is a whole bunch of very similar but still unique objects that all experience one another in some sense of an orderly fashion. co-operation
when has free speech been easier? when has existance been easier... http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/steven_pinker_on_the_myth_of_violence.html
Life is a selfish thing. We are here to produce future generations, and have our own DNA go on after our deaths. The goal is to someday produce the perfect species.
Overrated? Wtf.. because people like it? It can lead to realizing your point of living I guess. I looked at the stars last night while cycling home again, clear night sky from horizon to horizon, so fucking awesome  Edit: didn't got the reason through though
I was always under the impression there wasn't a point to living.... nor is there a point to anything we do we're just a bunch of bacteria cells running around in circles good fuckin times though:cheers2:
