Stick to it only happened once as then it can be just an accident. If you admit to more then it could be something else.

As simple as it seems...my dad always used to say "Ask yourself if it will matter in ten years before you start a war over it" and "Never lie, cheat or steal and do the right thing because it's the right thing to do and you will be fine." Both have served me well.

 

When I was 21 or 22 I was going through a tough time (of a first world problems variety) and i was being a drama queen. My mom told me very succinctly to "get a grip." It offended me and hurt my feelings so much that I ended up thinking about that one little comment for days. I wanted the type of mom who would buy me ice cream and let me wallow in my own self pity, but eventually I realized she was right and I stopped making mountains out of molehills from that point on.

Right around the same time I read the quote, "Look for the ridiculous in everything and you will find it." These words pretty much shaped my entire worldview from that point on for the better.
