That would make the whole hypothetical situation useless since without humans there would be no streets to walk down either :p

    All excellent points :cheers2:

I had a pet hermit crab once.

Nobody told me he'd need a bigger shell someday.

One day I went to feed him and I noticed his shell was off and he looked mad.

When I took the top off of his terrarium he threw his old shell at me (rendering me unconscious), and then he stole my truck and hasn't been seen since.

The ant whose body is invaded by a fungus that alters it's instinctive behavior
and causes it to climb to the highest point and latch on as the ant's head consequently explodes in a shower of spores.

The fungus is called Ophiocordyceps unilateralis.

Many breeds of dogs would go extinct if not for humans. They say all dogs are descended from wolves, and I find this hard to believe when I see some of these little short-legged pooches, but dogs are an extreme example of how humans can breed a species to fit its demands. Some are totally not designed to hunt for food and would starve if we didn't feed them. We've bred them to be absolutely dependent on us, they have no freedom.

humans. only humans can be expected to know the meaning of fences and keep out signs put up by other humans. small creatures may pass through or dig under them. many larger creatures jump, or even step, over them.

I'm pretty sure 95% of the animals in zoos haven't figured out how to escape the fences and enclosements they are put in.

I'll go with a giant squid, it's imprisoned in the depths of an oceanic purgatory never to get a glimpse of the daylight and surface.

One of the saddest thing I have ever seen was the gorillas in London Zoo.You could tell by their eyes and body language that they really had an understanding that they were being kept in captivity, that they were being looked at as objects of entertainment. In fact in a certain sense it felt that they looked right through me.My friend and I were so upset we had to leave the zoo and go and hug some trees in nearby Regent's park.

I always buy free-range eggs.I think it battery hen farming should be criminalized.

They are slowly working on it over here in the EU! :2thumbsup: At least there are set conditions now that forbid the old batteries. Of course there's always a problem with controlling these farmers in certain countries (I only know Italy for a fact...) but in most west european parts it is followed through and there is good progress planned for the future :)
