World of Warcraft isn't so bad. played for 3 years. I hear now its alot of trolling and kids..........

Lots of good games mentioned in this thread. My personal favorite is shining force 2.

And by the way, I saw somebody mention earthbound.. Although it may not be the best rpg ever, you want want to check out Mother 3, a gameboy advance "Earthbound 2" game. It's not the same characters at all, but the same idea about the aliens and shit. It's pretty dope too.

I think the Quest For Glory series is the best. It's the only RPG which combines role-playing with dynamic puzzles and adventure. Each character is unique and not a copy of a template like in all other RPGs, the locations are unique and hand-drawn and not generated from a 3D engine, and you aren't handed a shopping list of "quests" to complete.

 

The witcher was pretty good ,Dungeon siege 1 and 2 were excellent ,Legacy of Cain

 

Final Fantasy 3/6...omg I still go back to that game and play it all the time. Love the story.

Recent best RPG, has to be Skyrim. The FF franchise has gone SO downhill with 13...I like to pick the actions of my character, not just put them in a "paradigm" and tell them to play a role. Micromanagement for the win!

 

Breath of Fire 2 for Super Nintendo.
In my opinion the stroryline is much better than Final Fantasy 3/6. This game is hard, frustrating and sometimes a total bitch to play but its soooo rewarding once the plot really starts to move on.graphics are good,monsters are sweet and the music is great but the strory is what makes this game a true masterpiece!!

Me and my brother both actually cried at the end of the game because its so fucking sad...
