in my opinion, the Loki Music Festival might be the best festival offered on the east coast right now. The line up is so packed with bands like the roots, antibalas, toots and the maytals, toubab krewe, robert walter, bonerama, porterbatistestoltz, BONG featuring George Clinton, Digital Underground, Lee Boys, Tim Reynolds and TR3, Papa Mali, as well as a superjam lineup that has members of the meters, col bruce, papa mali, robert walters, jeff sipe, etc etc etc. They are also pulling a mystery headliner that i have heard all kinds of guesses at. I know the initial tickets go up sat the 15th and a number of the first tickets are only $85. They are only selling 4000 tickets for Deerfields which is one of the most beautiful venues in the country. I would check it out if i were you. lokifestival.com

Jammin at hippie jacks is in tennessee.
it's a smaller festival- but you camp out for 3 days.
I've went for the past 2 yrs, I love it.
it's cheap and smoke friendly. [[=

Of course, 'festival' consists of levels and so forth. On a smaller level 'summer happenings' at the Nelson Ledges Quarry Park ... www.nlqp.com ... are quite an experience. Not a large happening like many but I know my own taste resides in smaller closer knit celebrations & NLQP is a beautiful venue where things work out well ... Easy to describe, it's outside of Cleveland, Ohio, like in the country area of course.

It may not be for everyone, but I strongly recommend this spot in the summer time for gathering with other folk. The MUSIC is always superb, quite a deep variety of musicians on all levels.

    :hat:
GRATEFULFEST ... for those who care of course, is where it's at tenth year I believe this year, past few years has been on the fourth of July weekend

very well put by ten1000whispers ~> NLQP is very hip spot to go in the summer. I even enjoy the ride, approaching through Garrettsville is a gnarley cruise with a grate destination. Always a trip.

the land there is quite amazing
