Over the years I had my definition of what I find most romantic. I don't know what romance is. It's related to sex, I know. But not directly. Sexual instincts and behavior all have to do with reproduction, really. A doctor would know more about that than me. But, I had my definitions of what romance is. And when I was a kid, around 1980, I thought it was the story in the show "Angie". I especially liked the opening theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lFDCXb3aJk&list=PLX2G54R-u1oTX0GXfTiRA4AtGxVIyHMiA He was rich, she was poor. But they were brought together despite being from different worlds. And it was love that brought them together. I literally used to get goosebumps watching the opening theme. For some reason, I still remember, around early 1988, I thought Czech hockey player Petr Klíma was kind of cute, and sexy too. Yeah, I thought Klíma was kind of cute as I said. When they interviewed him after a game, he would try to be one of the boys, talking casually. But he'd stumble over his words, because his English was still poor. I always found that cute for some reason. I don't know why, but I always associated the Cyndi Lauper Prince cover to "When You Were Mine" with him. As I said, I forget why. But you know by 1989 I heard the Melissa Manchester song "Fire In the Morning". And I immediately thought it represented the epitome of romance, to me at least. Actually now I think "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson is my favorite. My father told me he liked it too when he first heard it on our radio.
Yeah, I'm not touching this one since I know that we all have different thoughts about what romance is. I know what I was told about it and I found out what "everyone else" thought it was, and none of that clicked with what I thought and what I was experiencing although I'd hear plenty of songs that talked about love and romance and none of which held water in reality...
