For the last several nights I have heard footsteps in my house, and I knew no one was there but me..I've heard knocking on my doors..voices, though "they" always speak in gibberish..I've seen black shadows, in human shapes, appear in my hallway in night, and they began to walk towards me, then dissappear, then reappear a few feet in front of where they once stood....I could never tell who they, or it, was, because they were nothing but a shadow.

This only seems to happen at night, past 12pm......yersterday, at 5am, after trying to ignore it..the lights in my room began to flicker...I lept out of my bed and ran as fast as I could to the door, naked, and knelt down.. I had decided I would wait 'till dawn...but it was very cold outside. I went back into my house, grabbed my clothing and wha possesions I could remember to bring and ran for my porch...as soon as I was at the doorsteps I felt this invisible force shove me off my porch onto the ground.

I'm sorry if this frightens you, but I had to tell someone.

    Poltergeist.

Had one of those in my parents house too. Footsteps, tv turned on in the middle of the night at volume 100. I watched a statue of a duck just fall of a mantle piece. Always heard my name being called, people talking. I also used to cry for no reason, whatever was there was really an emotional drain.
One day mum came home to tell me "you know that field across the road? Well apparently it floods during the rain and that is why council has not build there yet. A little boy died in the swamp a long time ago." And I thought yep, see, told you there was a ghost.

I no longer live there yet every so often my sisters will tell me about something strange that happens there. It's trend seems to come and go.

Well, in my case it wasn't a ghost, but a diffrent kind of spirit. It's been resolved now, though....

I didn't think Poltergeists were actual ghosts, but spirits of young children who like to have fun in a state of limbo or alike. While they're having fun, they're scaring us.

I remember poltergeists were prone to make footsteps, voices, electrical interference and knocking things over.. I had experienced all of this with mine.

Is it usually on waking or going off to sleep? Could be a sleep disorder, sometimes when stirred during sleep you can wake up but still partly be dreaming. Perhaps a form of parasomnia?

I think people are just trying to be polite or not caught up in childish games. They don't want to say "dt's?" or "thorazine?" Straight up.

Too deep for me, if I had these problems I would be seeking professional advice and the lack of others here might suggest the same.

Only that the house I live was built in 1969, lol.....and as I said before it wasn't ghost. I did think about seeking a psychiatrist's opinion, especially about hearing voices....but I doubt the footsteps, wall scrathing could be an hallucination....or the feeling of sudden fear.

I've been reciting this line everynight "Hail almighty Lord Satan, praise be to thy name" and none of this has happened since...I haven't heard any voices since that night either.

Satan is a douche. I used to work for the bastard but he was just too mean so I finally decided to throw in with God, and now I'm just recovering from the heavy karma of being a wicked twenty something year old in the army of the devil.

My suggestion is, you should try at least giving Christ a try. He's real too, but less violent and more centered in the heart, as opposed to the sexual chakra. Satan is all about lust: the lust for sex, power, and money. The sex is better when you're on his side, and you might feel freer at first, but you will have dark and twisted fantasies that will keep you up all night with the devil. If you embrace this sadistic streak you will corrupt your character, and it might never heal. And the devil will find work for your hands, and you might not agree with it or be able to stomach it but you'll do it anyway.

Satan is slavery, Christ is freedom, though it seems the opposite when you're young.

Do the right thing Cassandra, you don't want to be a slave to a Wicked and Unjust Tyrant. You will disagree with him, as you seem like a good hearted person, but your vote will mean nothing and eventually you'll just be corrupted over to seeing things his way.

Satan is ultimately a sore loser and very angry and bitter over his doomed fate. Don't throw in with such a cause. The good news for us both is that the winning side is also the peaceful and compassionate side. If I thought Satan was more compassionate and righteous than Jesus, I would bow before Satan even if he was on the losing side.

So I'm not just choosing the winner of the two factions, I'm going with the more beautiful and loving side.
