By definition, a Cockney is a person who was born within the sound of Bow bells.

However, it is not the accepted definition today, since people move around so much

I like Dick Van Dyke but his cockney accent in Mary Poppins is considered the worst ever!

Post 4--how in hell are you supposed to know how to interpret all those substitutions for regular words? Are they just understood by everyone automatically? And why not just use the regular words? I don't get it. Although I do like to hear the English speak, except for posh.:)

The 11 best pie and mash shops in London

Pie and Mash is one of my favourite dishes. It is also a leading Cockney dish. In fact... You will only find Pie and Mash if you google Cockney food and press the Image tab. Many of you may be wondering what this has to do with jellied eels. Well... Pie and Mash is a Victorian East End London dish and it used to be traditionally served with jellied eels. Presumably fished from along the Greenwich and Dockland shipping route.

I never said I dislike barbeque food per se, I just dislike cremated or undercooked food and the inevitable smoke from the fire. Food can be cooked on a regular cooker inside the home and trasported out into the garden.
