I don't know! Moving around from one free festival to another, never wearing shoes or washing or brushing hair, spending all day smoking, listening to music and talking crap. Always hitchhiking to get from a to b. Never really staying anywhere in particular. I don't know! That's how I lived my life way back then.

 

You can't make a Hippy ... You are one or you not.

 

A hippie is basically the same thing as a beatnik or a bohemian or a hipster. Its a nonconformist! Usually the classic hippie has a bit of drugs and sex and peace and love in there too.

 

Me too...except for the not washing or brushing hair part.

I don't think so, Brother. I stopped smoking years ago but that didn't change who I was.
On the other hand, Bob smokes weed ferociously, but is always telling me that hippies are a lower life form than he is.
What can I say?
Weed smoking does NOT make you a hippie, Brother. That is for sure!

 

Kind of a self defeating definition, to be "something is to conform, so by your definition, it's conforming to non-conforming, or a way of saying no such thing.

I grew up all around hippies. They taught me and my classmates in the early years. I thought they were great. Some with their third eye. Who knows what magic she had going on but her green house was well stocked. Love them flowers. No fighting. No biting and always hug.

 

My kids were hippie raised-- big surprise-- and they carry on the tradition.

A hippie is a free thinker. One who lives by the earth's rules, not the govt's. One who embraces natural healing vs. big pharma. Dreadlocks and hairy pits do not make a hippie unless there is an ultimate love and respect for mother earth. Not just respect but actually lives the life that was Initially put in place for us. I've been a hippie all my life but you probably wouldn't know that by my Pic. It's in your heart. ❤️ ❤️
